A 43-year-old man was arrested after a 15-year-old girl reported missing by her mother was found living at his Bangkok house. The suspect said the girl had asked for his help after she was gang raped, but she did not want to return home. Police discovered the suspect had recently been released from prison on a similar charge of adultery with an underage female.

BANGKOK – December 21, 2012 [PDN]; at 11:30 a.m., a press conference was held at the Romklao police station to announce the arrest of a man for child abduction for the purpose of adultery.

The arrest was announced by Pol. Col. Ake Ekasart, vice commander, metropolitan police 3; Pol. Col. Panthana Nutchanart, director of Romklao police station; Pol. Maj. Col.Ukrit Srinitiworawong, detective inspector of Romklao police station; and detective officers.

The suspect was indentified as Mr. Suppakrit Wanjamsri, or Khwan, 43 years old. He was arrested at a house in Klong Song in the Lat Krabang district, Bangkok.

Pol. Col. Ake said that the suspect was arrested after the mother of a 15-year-old girl, “A,” (alias), reported her daughter was missing from home since December 7.

Police detective officers then discovered that the girl was staying with Mr. Suppakrit at his house, so the police went to the house. When police found her there, they contacted the girl’s parents to take her home.

Police then detained Mr. Suppakrit and brought him to the Romklao police station. During questioning, Mr. Supprakit told police that he worked as salesman for car cleaning equipment. He had known Ms. A for about 5 months, and met her while selling his products in the Victory monument area.

They had also been engaging in phone conversations during that time, Mr. Supprakit said. Then on December 7, Ms. A called him to say that she just got raped by a teenage gang, and asked him to take her home.

So Mr. Supprakit first took her to the hospital to check her injuries, and then they reported the rape at the Udomsuk police station. Afterwards, Ms. A stayed with him at his house because she did not want to go home, Mr. Supprakit said.

He admitted that he did not tell the girl’s parent that her daughter was staying at his house. But Mr. Supprakit said he had not had done anything sexual with Ms. A, because there were many other people living in the house with him.

However, after police checked Mr. Supprakit’s record, they discovered that in 2007 he had been convicted of a similar crime in Pahol Yothin. Mr. Supprakit was sentenced to prison, and released in June 2012.

As for Ms. A, she will be questioned further by a psychologist, social worker, her parents and the prosecutor to determine possible charges to file against the suspect.

The police informed Mr. Supprakit that he was arrested on a charge of abducting a female between the ages of 15-18 for the purpose of adultery without the consent of her parents. However, the police will question him further before making a conclusion to send the case for prosecution.

If you have been arrested before for the the same offense why take the chance to be arrested again? I think he is guilty and will go down for it again.

Hmmm... I thought the legal age for sexual consent in Thailand was, in fact, 15. (It's younger, as low as 12, in many other countries.) For prostitution, the age is 18. (Of course, prostitution is illegal in Thailand!) Some jurisdictions make consent dependent upon gender age differential. Suppakrit may well be an old perv but perhaps the young innocent was already dropping the cotton Hello Kittys on a regular basis.
