I've flown with FlyScoot which is Singapore Airlines budget company and even they are impressive!

I've flown a lot of airlines and Singapore are my favorite.

The top Asian and Middle Eastern carriers are far more superior than Australian, North American or European carriers for IMHO.

I particularly like the category "Best Flight Attendants".

I agree with Singapore Airlines being the best.

I wish I could fly Singapore Airlines when I go back home to visit but even their economy rates are what you would almost pay for business with another airline.

Singapore, yes I'd agree with that and I've only ever flown with them in Economy while paying extra for the exit row leg room seats.

 

Best Business class I've ever flown would have been with Etihad.

Big call. Sing air business class is day light ahead of any other however better than Emirates first class?

British air business class best seat...the food was the worst I have ever had.

 

 

Never been able to afford FC or BC always "cattle class" but would like to throw this in, fell for really cheap fare Air India, never again back to direct LHR to BKK with Thai or Eva even if I have to cut from 4 to 3 trips a year.I was warned, particularly on this forum about AI but for £200 less had got to give it a try.

good food, great business class...

Never flown business or first on Emirates, but I do think that even their economy is better than most other carriers. Seat pitch and recline aren't anything special, but you get fed a crazy amount of times with some pretty decent meals and the ICE entertainment in every seat is pretty awesome. Most seats had USB power too. From what I've seen online, I'm surprised Singapore didn't get best first class. Their cabins are larger than some of the budget hotel rooms I've stayed at over the years. Even their business seats are 30 inches wide. That's 10 inches wider than Emirates. I'm also surprised Etihad didn't make this list.

Just got back from trip on Cathay in business class. I got the dates for a convention I need to attend in BKK next year, and have already booked my flight there on Cathay, but the return date is not "open" yet (it's 11 months away, but some days were already fully booked for award travel). I'm calling AA back to see if I could do that award flight in first class, instead of business class -- only 12,500 more miles (each way).

 

I have a ton of Star Alliance miles, and was considering adding 4+ hours to my return flight so that I could come back on Singapore in business class.

 

That said, I was very impressed by the service on Cathay -- I left some medical stuff in my checked bag that I needed for the flight from HKG to LAX. They located my bag after arrival in HKG from BKK, arranged for an employee to walk me to it, let me take out what I needed, then they immediately re-checked it. I doubt that any U.S.-based carrier would have gone to the lengths that they went to for me. I would have been SOL (shit outta luck).

Unless desperate, I'd never fly an airline where the flight crew has been known to get into a physical fight in flight.

I agree. Although Cathay Pacific has been somewhat criticized as being not what it was during the years of easier money for airlines, I'd still chose an Asian airlines like CP hands down over a typical US airline.

Very true. US airlines have only transitioned into lie-flat long-haul business seats in the past 4 years. Meanwhile, most asian airlines have been using them for nearly a decade, and now the typical Asian business class seats and service rival US first class. I don't know why the US airline industry isn't able to keep up. Might be a fleet size issue and the costs associated with upgrading planes. The shame is that I already saw what United and Delta have in plan for the new 787 Dreamliners, and I'm not impressed at all. Not when you consider how Emirates, JAL and the others are outfitting their Dreamliners. That being said, I did book United for my trip this January. Was able to get it on points, so two legs on United and the last on Thai Airways. Should be a good contrast of business classes. Will post after my trip.

I've flown Thai, Sing, JAL, Cathay, Ana, & United in 1st & Biz. in the last 5 years. IMO Sing has the best Biz and Cathay the best 1st. Asiana is the up and comer. They may be the best in 5 years & ICN was voted the best airport in the world (& it is). Surprisingly UA was pretty damn good in 1st the 4 times I flew them..

That's good to hear -- I just changed my flight and am now flying Cathay first class to BKK next fall. I will probably return in business class on Cathay (dates not open for award booking yet), but Asiana is a possibility, depending upon the flight times. Return flight on Thai leaves too early in the morning for me.

According to skytrax which surveyed over 20,000,000 passengers Qatar airways is 2012 best airline in the world! Their business class cabin on their Boeing 777 300er deserves its 5 star ranking whilst the business cabin on their Airbus 330 is not so great. I fail to see how any of Emirates lounges could possibly beat Qatars purpose built first/business class terminal in Doha which is like a luxury hotel.

I certainly would not include any North American or European carrier in my top 10 in any class of travel.

Well what do you know, Etihad sent me an email today acclaiming to have won, for the fourth consecutive year, the 'World’s Leading Airline' and 'World’s Leading Airline First Class' at the World Travel Awards Grand Final 2012.
