Hi Weblo, just quickly for Cambodia you get a visa on arrivel for 30 days but you will have to get a visa for China if you have not got already.

 

When you come back after your trip to China as long as you come through the airport you are correct you will get 30 days, you can then go to the Immigration Bureau and get a 7 day extension on top for 1,900 baht, easy easy

Apply for a double entry tourist visa at the Thai consulate in Canada. It is valid for 6 months so the second time you enter Thailand you will have 60 days. This will save you from having to waste your time going to the immigration office.

Depends on cost whether to bother with a Double Entry for Thailand.

I'd probably just use the Visa Waiver for the first 4 days and consider a Single Entry Tourist Visa for the 33 days, rather than the bother and cost of extending a second 30 day Visa Waiver.

 

For Cambodia, save a page in your Passport and jump the queue at PNH with a $25 e-Visa HERE - beware of the other site asking $40.

Quite correct and many do that with no problem.

 

The problem may come if you get stopped before you get to the airport, when it might cost you more, so I never advise that myself.

Regarding all the visa requirements I suggest just google it and you get correct answer, But for Thailand you get 30 days visa on arrival or you can apply for multiple Entry tourist visa from Canada for 3 months. Cost have no idea.

If you'd googled it and got the correct answer yourself, you'd know that Canadians get Visa Waiver, not Visa on Arrival.

 

If he uses Visa Waiver for the 4 days, why does he need a Multiple Entry TV (no 3 month one I know of) to cover 33 days when a Single Entry covers 60 days?

 

Do you mean he should get a Double Entry TV and use 1 x 60 days to cover 4 days? Why bother?

This all seems far too complicated when the easiest option is a short trip to the Thai Immigration for a 7 day extension and you can do any time within the 30 days and they will add the 7 days on top of the 30 days for only 1,900 baht, problem solved.

You're not wrong, but the "short trip" to Immigration can be a tedious waste of time when you're here on holiday and for most of us getting a TV (by post) in advance isn't difficult or much more expensive.

 

Having a Visa means there is no possibility of running into problems when he comes back in, because his return flight is after the 30 day Visa Waiver period - not very likely I know, but it would give a little peace of mind to some.

As I said before, it's just an option to consider, but no, not essential. I like having a Visa myself if possible.
