Made a quick border crossing at Maesot yesterday and on my re-entry into Thailand, I was pulled over and told quite firmly that the maximum number of consecutive land border crossings ( 14 days stay ) is now 4.

After that, you have to get a "real" visa.

I was shown the immigration internal memo dated Nov21 instructing border offices to this effect.

I think this will affect a lot of people.

If you have done more than four, they have to question you about this and why, and what you are doing in Thailand.

Good luck.

A few years ago the same policy was enforced for a max of three crossings.

The poster has made over 2,000 posts so he s no newbie

Thai immigration usually make such changes public which makes me think that this is not a general policy. Perhaps it is only that border crossing or that area???

who knows but seems like lots of immigration offices are making( ie read enforcing) new regulations.

Trying to get info on this new policy here in Phuket about US citizens need show money verification along with the letter we get from the consoler showing our income, that we usually only need for retirement extension.

can I suggest you ask the question on Thaivisa.com. they have a lot of visa experts on there and keep up with the latest info

That's where, as he said, it was posted.

Mario2008 (Global Mod) is already on the case so just watch and wait, no point in a new thread asking about another one. :Think1:

.

Let me tell you something I advertise on Thaivisa also and there is nobody there any better than alot of the guys on this forum.

The Mod's are very good on this forum on all topics and very knowledgable guys.

To answer the question as I run visa runs 7 days a week that towards the end of last week they did start to enforce it again, it was a rule 12 months ago but got relaxed, now it is getting enforced again, most of the border crossings now have put up a notice that after 4 x 15 day visa runs they wish you to go to a Consulate or Embassy and obtain a visa i.e. 60 day tourist visa if you wish to stay longer.

Posting as a business on Thaivisa is difficult as no matter how good your knowledge is there is always somebody who knows better. unlike this forum :GoldenSmile1:

I think it is time that we got back to the subject of the thread.

Yes, and one that very few of us have ever heard of before. I see in the Thai Visa thread that nobody has confirmed the policy and a couple of people are reporting that they have had no problems when going to the border within the past week.

This rule was introduced some time ago and enforced for a short period, then like so many others, it existed but was no longer vigorously enforced. It would appear that it is once again getting its annual/bi-annual refreshment.

The solution is to get a visa which negates any reason for concern.

Another one reporting no problems at Maesai.

just a quick update aftermy crossing today, there is no limit in maesai border. will post more info once i get hands with my laptop. actually a limit to thisarea would be quite off, i got 4 stamps within a week for golf and casino. a number of malaysians and sinaporeans do this btw and fly back, if this limit really implies, had to farewell to regina

will be interested to see how this plays out;

4 stamps in a week they can see ur not abusing the system as he was not staying the full 15 days and than leaving to come back.

coming to Thailand for golf, ( didn't know they had courses up there) and going to Burma for Casino ,wonder which country he lives in

Used to have some good gem finds up there but not for awhile

I asked the same questions there as i also wonder why so many Singaporeans an Malays are doing up in that part of Thailand.

Much closer casinos for them ( Singapore has gambling as does malaysia.
