Carrying motorbike helmet to Thailand

Featured Replies

Taking my motorbike helmet with me in a couple of weeks. Is it best to put in hold luggage or inside hand luggage or can you carry it on board seperately as say a hand bag?Flying with Jet Lhr-Del-Bkk

Thanks.

Sports equipment?

Actually I brought mine in my checked in suitcase - too big for hand luggage.

They're not heavy and by the time you've stuffed them full of other stuff you don't lose much space.

.

I bring an Aussie regulation helmet with me... It fits nicely in my check-in suit case.

Best to contact your airline to see if it's counted as a carry-on if you want to bring it on board with you.

By the way... it's good thinking on your part to bring a good helmet with you as most of the time you end up with a plastic bucket for a helmet when you rent a bike on the street.

Cheers...

Ive already got one UK helmet in Pattaya for my bike.I carried it in checked luggage before but was reading online how helmets can get damaged in the hold etc so was thinking of putting it in hand luggage.

Maybe depends on your suitcase but if you stuff it rammed full and put clothes around it I doubt it will get crushed - I brought 3 in so far.

Also, pack it so that if something falls on your case the impact is top to bottom, not sideways.

Sports equipment is your only other chance - do you look like Valentino Rossi? :LOL2:

Fyi . Technically helmets are supposed to have a "Thailand " sticker on them to be approved . At least this was from the bib that gave me a ticket for using a helmet without it . Not sure if they will recognize dot or Snell as the helmet I was using was very light duty and had neither sticker

Just wear the fucker when you board, then stow it! If asked, just tell them.......better safe than sorry.
