Thai Immigration Bureau to take e-payments

 

Foreigners who have to pay fees or fines to the Immigration Bureau can pay by ATM, credit or debit cards starting this Sunday, the bureau has announced. Only cash payments are accepted currently.

 

Immigration bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Phanu Kerdlarpphol said the bureau would be the first unit of the Royal Thai Police to introduce electronic means of fees and fines payments.

 

Each year, the bureau's offices in Bangkok collect close to 800 million baht in revenue from fines and fees. The electronic payment options would increase convenience for the payer and the bureau itself, Pol Lt Gen Phanu said.

 

The services were also part of the bureau's efforts to match standards of immigration services overseas.

 

The new service will be available at the government complex on Chaeng Watthana Road, the centre for visa and work permit services at Chamchuri Square, the service centre for Myanmar, Lao and Cambodian immigrant workers, the Immigration Office on Soi Suan Phlu, and other units of the bureau.

 

Krung Thai Bank, which will handle payments for the bureau, will waive payment fees for Krung Thai ATM and Visa debit card holders from Dec 1 until Feb 28, Pol Lt Gen Phanu said.

 

Payments using debit cards of other banks or financial institutions and credit cards of any financial institution would be subject to a 1% fee, he said.

I think you are being a little overzealous, he provided some information that was from a "News" article on the Thaivista website. This would be considered as "Fair use" in copyright terms as with any other news, informative or reference data. I do it myself often, but always take care to do as I said above.

 

It's just common courtesy to the writer and reader.

 

Only my opinion anyway and you're allowed one too, but those items often do carry copyright footers.

Bear if it is only a short overstay a few days, then if you are leaving just pay at the airport it is easier, if you are in Thailand on a 30 day VOA free visa at the airport and you have been overstaying and wish to stay longer then you can go to your local Immigration office pay the overstay and get an extension of stay, the extension will depend on which visa you have in your passport

 

It is not good to get an overstay just plan and make sure you do not, you can always contact me for free info and I will keep you legal.

The fee is waived for one day overstay when flying out. Many reports of people paying the 20,000 baht for really long overstays and then coming right back in the same day without issue. Always better to stay legal as the police can arrest and deport you even if you are on one day overstay when they check your passport if stopped on the way to the airport.

If ur overstaying an pay in advance when ur ready to leave all is cool and no worries BUT and this is a BIG BUT

if ur stopped on the street and they ask for ur passport and ur overstayed at that point

 

go directly to jail!!!

and than deported IF u have the cash to pay the fine an ticket out. Not worth the risk

 

One day over they usually don't bother fining u.

As before, are you not talking about Visa Waiver/Exemption, which is not a Visa, just a date stamp?

 

Visa on Arrival is something else entirely surely, for visitors from India, Russia etc. The 19 countries HERE

 

Most Pattaya Addicts BMs qualify for Visa Exemption, which is no Visa, so they don't want to get the idea that they have to head for the VoA desk first time they come.

If ur on a visa exempt ( ie 15 day by land, 30 day by air) u will only get a 7 day extension for 1,900 baht

 

A 30 day extension for a VISA is also 1,900 baht

1, Yes you can pay overstay at the Immigration and get a 7 day extension on top if you have a 30 day visa, yes you can pay your overstay and get a 30 day extension on top if you have a 60 day visa.

 

2, Yes you can pay the overstay at the airport, with a maximum fine of 20,000 baht, most people if they are 1 day or 2 days will pay at the airport, I have lived here 13 years and never been asked to show my passport, so stop scaring members about deportation, its a joke, how many people do you know have been imprisoned for 1 or 2 days overstay or blacklisted? Let me tell you the Immigration do not wish you to go to prison, they allow you to pay overstay because it is more revenue for the country, for long overstay 6 months and above they may check you out to make sure you have no outstanding Thai court cases, but 99% of the time if you have a ticket out of Thailand they will allow you to pay the maximum 20,000 baht and go back to your country.

 

They do not put you in the IDC Immigration Detenstion Centre unless you have been a really naughty boy with outstanding warrants or you cannot pay the overstay, they do not want to detain you at the Thai Governments cost they want you to pay and bye bye on a plane.

 

The getting arrested and blaclisted and all that shit was a rumour started on another forum, its too much paperwork and aggrevation.

 

So you pair of experts with your perfect and valuable experience stop scaring the members with your bar room bullshit you have both got a bit of an idea and like to dig at people like me, if you have nothing good to say , shut up,

Instead of being insulting, could you please tell me what was inaccurate or incorrect in my post, as I did about yours.

 

I can't see anything much relevant to what I said in your ramble and you don't appear to have addressed any of the points I raised about your inaccuracies apart from agreeing with some of the points made.

 

I can read thank you and, apparently unlike yourself, I can write reasonably well too.

 

I happen to think that in dealing with the Thai authorities on something as important as a Visa i.e. permission to stay here, one should follow the procedures and terminology as accurately as possible, rather than just resorting to waving (more) money at the officials to unnecessarily solve problems arising.

an overstay is an overstay 1 day 1 month or 2 years and the law in Thailand is the law ( its up to them to choose to enforce it or not)

 

a voa is NOT the same as a 30 day visa exempt stamp and doubt hanger ones on soi 5 have ever gotten a voa when they came into Thailand.

 

I have never in MY 28 years here had a voa or overstayed my visa and I have had to show my passport at times.

 

I have helped 3 people who were arrested for overstays.

 

All were caught up in a sweep an they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and had overstayed their visas and did not have the cash to get out. Had to help them raise the overstay fee an $$ to book a flight home while they waited in the detention center.
