I luv them long time

As much as I love all things Australian, I got to get me action of the asian persuasian.

I say they come to Pattaya and pay all the bar fines for every girli n every bar for a year - put that money to good use - too bad the Taxes on that will take most of it if they take a lump sum - but still they will have enough to do what I ask. :GoldenSmile1:

It's too much, why don't they have a system whereby the all the punters with the nearest numbers get to share, and put a cap on each individual winnings at say $10 mil, then you would have 58 people who are made for life instead of 2

Oh why, oh why wasn't it me... ????????

:SoWhat1:

I'd have rung the bell a dozen time if I won....

:Drunk_Party:

Oh wait.. I know why it wasn't me, I didn't buy a ticket.

:What:

Rather save the money I would spend on lotto tickets for betting on sure fire Soi 6 ST fun. Better odds!

Is it true that the true winner is the US government who collects 60% of the winnings as tax? In Australia there is no tax on lottery winnings.

My moto for 2017: Don't argue with an idiot. Don't argue with.....

Is it true that the true winner is the US government who collects 60% of the winnings as tax? In Australia there is no tax on lottery winnings.

No. The tax rate on income is not YET near that range. But give the socialists and class warfare angels time. :Disease1:

I believe the highest tax rate is 39%. Of course, then they have to pay state income taxes if their state collects them. Usually around 7-9%. So figure 45%.

And of course if you want a lump sum they don't pay the amount you "won". So, the reality is if they want a lump payout (I would at that size) figure $250 mil, minus 20% lump sum or $200 mil minus 45% = $110 mil in cold hard cash.

You can live on it if you don't get stupid :GoldenSmile1:

The Tax varies. But is capped at 35% on any winnings over 5000 USD..... Not bad is it.... But like FatJack said, if you take the lump sum, you walk away with much much less.... In this case, more than enough to have a bit of fun and set yourself up. :)

Read one report that said the winners each take home around $136m....not that it matters a whole lot once you get into these insane figures. I bought 1 "quick pick" ticket. Can't be bothered picking the numbers myself. I hit all of 1 numbers. That gets you....wait for it....... f**k-all. Anyway, glad to hear a honest working family won. Guy went from meat packing laborer to jet-setter.

Holy Shit..... that's quite a few threesomes or twentysomes....

what a great feeling it would be to walk in the boss's office crap right on the desk give em a a great big :Finger5: you, charter a private jet with a bunch of buds knowing ur head'in to paradise for the f'in time of ur life...

fantastic..hats off.......

Why do winners in the US & UK always have press conferences or appear in the media? In Australia it is very rare for someone to publicize their win or for the media to out them. Is it a requirement to have a press conference in the US? Seems foolish to me.

True. I wouldn't want anyone outside of my family and closest friends to know. Next thing you know, you're flooded with scams, beggars, venture cap idea people, and every "friend" you've ever known. It also poses a serious risk for the winners, if they ever wanted to visit some countries were kidnapping is a real and serious risk. Parts of Mexico come to mind.

I was praying soo much..I would of flown immediately to Nirvana, rented a Condo a barfined an entire go go :Think1:

In some of the states it is required that the winner shows up and is publicized.

The lottery commissions basically see these press conferences as marketing events and as previous poster mentioned, it is mandatory for some states.

Unfortunately in many states it becomes public record...
