A bag of rice won't kill you

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals,

I know this is not a normal post but I wish to tell you about a childrens day care center that we sponsor and help with basic daily essentials. The childrens day care center is called the Agope day center and it houses about 40 kids the oldest is about 4 years old and these are some of the poorest in Pattaya, There parents or guardians are people who look through bins for plastics or work on building sites for shit money and they keep ther children here out of the sun.

It is heart breaking when you see these kids and it is not there fault they are in this position.

The center is located opposite Wat Tham, the easiest way is go to the top of Pattaya Tai to Suckumvit road and directly across you will see the golden Buddhist arch you go across Suckumvit and under the arch and carry on until you see the temple Wat Tham on your left hand side, directly on the opposite side of the road is a Family mart and the home is next door to the Family mart.

Most people are feeling the pinch at present but not as much as these kids, when your shopping please give them a thought, even if it is chocolates or rice or Lactasoy milk they will all appreciate it and they make you feel so welcome, it is not money they need.

They will sing songs for you and the love they show is second to none, I have done plenty of charity work since I arrived in Thailand but this is my favourite.

Go and see them Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm, you will come out and remember how lucky we are.

Hope you do not mind this post

Darren

Comrade.

I dont mind donating money for good cause but your post dont promote anything.

Sorry about that, promoting what, poor kids, nobody asked you to help oldfu, read it properly it says go there yourself, nothing to do with me I just help them with food and essentials etc you see I give not just take.

I will try and do better next time, I won't bring to the members attention some little kiddies that need a few treats, and tell them were to go!!

I will just talk about Soi6 all the time. You might want to obtain some compassion my friend. "read it properly please"

Stick the pictures on, some of us like to give back as well as take.

Maybe oldfu was pissed or just didn't understand what you were saying.

If it flies, floats or fucks - it will be cheaper to rent !

You will find lots of people in your corner. I might not be out there for awhile but I will eventually look it up and try to bring something that will bring smiles to their faces. Please update with more information and pictures as it becomes available.

Yes will do, like I said before I am not fund raising for these kids as I support them alot of the time, just making the guys aware if they wish to go and see the kiddies they will be very welcome,

You will be glad you went, I bought them all little Man United kits expecting them to be proud as I am, Half of them would not wear them, made me piss myself :GoldenSmile1: one little girl said can you get me a Chelsea one, I said NO but heres a packet of sweets instead

Hi Darren

dont let one ignorant reply upset you, keep up the good work, im sure theres plenty of people on this forum who would like to help such good causes but like myself wouldn't know where to start or how go about it.

we just need a kick up the arse sometimes to make us realise that a small sum of money and a couple of hours of our time we can actually make quite a diifference and bring a little happiness to those less fortunate

thank you for bringing this to our attention,

Thanks, Fiesta, Just follow the directions I have given, take a bag of rice and some sweets and colouring books from Big C, or anything you wish to give, I never advise money, not that I dont trust them, of course I do but buying and taking is a bit more special.

People wonder why I only go to the Expats club every 2 weeks and this is why the other Sunday I fill my boot with candy, coke, crisps, rice, cooking oil, spray for moskitos, plastic footballs, crayons, colouring books, baby learning books, cheap Tom and Jerry CD,S, cuddly teddy's, cheap teashirts from 2-4 year olds they sell for 20 baht in Big C, pampers, baby shampoo, baby powder, washing up liquid,

These are just the standard things I rotate and buy, It does not cost alot, but God it makes you feel good.

Cheers, the above are just examples.

Thanks guys they are not yet that advanced to have a website, they dont need much as they have never had much, they love sweets and crisps and coke. just the usual things kids at 2-4 years old like.

I remember 2 years ago I bought this little girl a teddy bear from Big C she was only 2 years old and it was her first day there and she did nothing but cry, missing her mum. so I give her this teddy bear that I had originally bought for the wife, she stopped crying straight away, and to this day 2 years later she still carrys that teddy bear everywhere.

The Teddy cost only about 200 baht but brought so much happiness to the little girl.

Sorry guys, In business I am quite hard but on a personal basis with the kids I am soft as shit!!

On your own, NO. Can`t believe the first comment and I also can`t say what I would like to say for fear of being banned from the site. I am hoping to be in Pattaya on 9th December and I will try to be there myself with some gifts. Please post some pics and don`t be put off as I am sure 99.9% are behind you in this.

Great work you doing for them poor kids Darren.

i was little touched will i seen the photos, i'm not in town until March

but 100% will will pop along with some goodies etc......

Dayo...

Giving a bag of rice to a small child may well kill you.

It is called grooming. Don't do it.

Why don't you try to get funding from the many child protection NGO's

in Pattaya, of whom there are many and who do not get accused if they give.

Edited by jobsworth

just because i am paranoid does not mean that they are not following me.

hmm this is a bit sad really. Maybe you can set up a program to help these kids out through the Pattaya community. Its great to raise awareness but maybe you can take it a step further? I for one would love to donate if possible

Don't believe this, ""GROOMING" 2 to 4yo kids? the world is really fucked if political correctness has let things get this far. The OP is not asking for money, he is just challenging us to give some time and kindness to some of the less fortunate.

I can have this at home............................or this in LOS, thats why I go

What about that christian church in the back of picture #2? Are you converting this poor kids in to ”right believe”?

In 13 years my company has done numerous charity projects, you are correct there are people who would rather buy a box of condoms than a bag of sweets but that is up to them, sorry about my spelling mistakes sometimes I get over excited when writing posts that mean something to me.

This is not my charity guys and these kids have parents but they are poor and a can of coke is exciting for them, yes we have Father Ray they are 800 kids with no parents and receive millions of pounds per year in funding and myself have donated to them, come to my office i shall show you the certificates.

They just require bare essentials and things there parents could never buy like a can of coke, teddy bear etc,

you can go or not go it is your decision some of us are born with compassion, some are not, we are all different, I posted this for the members that would like to go to Big C and by a few treats and drop them off, If you are not interested then we do not need your comments.

Agreed guys?

Thanks for the low down on this place, I'd never heard of it before and will certainly pay them a visit some time with the missus, I would much rather give gifts than money, I feel sorry for the kids at the side of the road begging and know they are doing it to support their parents bad habits

I like to help those that help themselves and have often thought about giving the odd 100 baht to the guys or women going through the bins, but don't because I don't want to offend them but if I can help the kids of these people then great
