Our Dirty Beaches

I disagree with Koto’s messy signs on the beaches, and his love of soi dogs, but I certainly agree with him with his recent article about the state of the beach after the jet ski cup was held in Jomtien.

It was a right mess. Even worse than usual.

Also, the rubbish all along the beach every weekend is disgusting - plastic bags, Styrofoam takeaway food cartons and many alcohol bottles, mostly left by Thais. It's not just cigarette butts we have to worry about.

I even saw a Russian sunbather take a rake and clean the tiny bit of beach they all crowd onto on Pratumnak beach last week, as it was so dirty.

Come on City Hall, get a grip – get some cleaners down there daily. It won't cost you much.

You're supposed to be pretending to be an international family resort, so why not clean up the beaches to an acceptable standard.

We can’t just leave it all to Koto can we?

It wouldn't cost a lot to keep Pattaya's beaches clean with a daily, dedicated cleanup crew, and the impact it would have on beach tidiness and cleanliness would be huge.

Why it hasn't happened yet is anyone's guess. Maybe not enough money in it.
