Is Pattaya The best for Songkran?

Featured Replies

When exactly is songkran? the water fight haha and where in thailand should i go?

Around second week of April, it lasts nearly a week in Pattaya tho, u might love it or hate it.

It lasts way longer in Pattaya tho than other cities. I would suggest being drunk.

YEAH! Songkran is the peak of all high seasons. Totally A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! Farangs going to Pattaya just for this week, just for Songkran. Nobody cares about bars, agogos, drinking or girls. Just everything what comes with Songkran. Ask anywhere. Everybody loves it. I would totally recommend you visit Pattaya at this date. The most enjoyable week of all weeks. :Think1:I can totally guarantee, that you'll never forget this.

And when you be there, don't forget rent a jet ski. :Party4: And there are plenty more good ideas like visiting Pattaya during Songkran and jet ski. Just ask. Other members are usually very helpful.

Farang = Walking ATM. TG's push the right buttons and money comes out. PIN = BBBJ

Most places the water throwing stops each day when it gets dark. But in Pattaya the falang ignore this and go on into the night which rather spoils it. There is no way to avoid being soaked through for as long as you are out of your hotel room. Next year I will be in Krabi where they stop when it gets dark so you can enjoy some drinks and food without being wet.

If it flies, floats or fucks - it will be cheaper to rent !

Nope. Chiang Mai.

They even bring out the army tanks and shoot water from them :)

No mongering though...

HMMMM.. no mongering in chang mai ? is that where all the good people live ? :SoWhat1:

Pattaya - best place for Songkran? Well that depends if you want the traditional version or the insane/fun mega waterfight version. I've been to the last 5 or so in Pattaya-Jomtien and I think that will do. Daytime is fine but dickheads at 9-10pm on Walking Street with water pistols are mildly annoying.

If you stay around Sois 11-13 you can largely avoid the water carnage during the week leading up to the 19th. Soi's 7-8 are complete water baths from 10am to around 8pm for the whole week.

Dont plan on arriving or leaving Pattaya on the 19th, wall-to-wall water wars.

The Songkran Festival 2013 will last for 3 days, from April 13-15. But in Thailand, the employees and students are given almost a week off.

In Pattaya many bars selebrate for up to 1 week.

If you love the waterfun its crazy but for those who work and want to live a normal life its hell.

Thais are good at respecting who are plaing and who are not but the foreigners dont understand this and soaks everybody.

I dont like it and try to go away for a few days if possible.

Went once never again hated it went on for 6or7 days

  • 2 weeks later...

I was in Kanchanaburi for my first songkran, I think about 2004? It was a lot of fun actually. Was in Bangkok a few years later and wasn't in a good mood at all and I didn't care for it, but looking back I think my mood had more to do with not liking it as much.
