Showing poor sportsmanship, students from two Chonburi schools started fighting each other after a penalty-marred futsal game between the schools. More than 20 police officers were summoned to control an unruly crowd of about 500 beefing students. There were no reported injuries.

CHONBURI – November 22, 2012 [PDN]; at 3 p.m., a big fight between two schools involving 500 students was broken up by 20 police officers, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Komsorn Mabamroong, vice director of suppression division of Muang Chonburi police station; with Pol. Lt. Col. Ekkaraj Abhiwatwacha, vice director of traffic division, Muang Chonburi police station; and Pol. Capt. Somkid Yanapan, vice suppression inspector, of Muang Chonburi police station.

The big beef was apparently triggered by a futsal match between the two schools. During the game, there was fighting between the players, until the judge had to give red cards to both teams. When the game ended, the athletes of the local team ran to close the entrances, and then the local students bullied the rival students and destroyed their properties.

The arriving police took more than 20 minutes to settle the situation and get things back to normal. Students were taken to Muang Chonburi police station, before they were released to be dealt with by their school administrations.

Nobody knows better than Liverpool supporters about 'trouble' at football matches. It's always a shame when the greatest game in the world of sport is marred by violence.
