Police picked up six young boys who were looking for a foreigner’s house in Sattahip to get paid for sex. The boys, ranging from ages 13 to 9, had been begging tourists for money on Pattaya beach. They said an older boy told them of the opportunity to get paid for sex.

SATTAHIP – November 23, 2012 [PDN]; at 3 a.m., residents reported to police that six youngsters who “looked like tramp children” were walking on a Sattahip street with luggage containing their clothes.

The report was received by Pol. Sub. Lt. Ubol Wongkhamchai, investigation officer at the Sattahip police station. He contacted the police of the Wat Khao Khantamas sentry box to check out the report. The children were reported to be walking on Soi Wat Khao Khantamas in Tambon Sattahip, about 2 km from Sukhumvit Road.

The police went to the scene at a roadside close to a forest, and spotted the long-haired children, dressed in casual wear. The children were all boys, ranging in ages from 13 to 9. They were frightened at seeing the police, who took them to the police station for investigation.

The two oldest boys were13 years old: “Kao,” a primary school student; and “Ton,” a secondary school student at Wat Inthanaram school. The next oldest was “Tam,” age 12, a primary school student.

Two boys were 11 years old: “Beer,” a student at Wat Sutthawas school; and “Yu,” age 11, a student at Muang Pattaya 7 school. The youngest boy was “Ta,” age 9, a primary school student in grade 3.

When questioned, the 13-year-old boy, Kao, said that all of them had been staying at a rented room within Soi Wat Nongkate Yai, Pattaya. Every day the boys would wander along Pattaya Beach to beg for money from the tourists.

They had an informal leader who led their begging gang, a boy identified as “Phai,” age 15. At 7 p.m. that evening, the six boys were told by Phai to travel by a Songthaew going from Na Kleu to Sattahip.

They were to get off at Soi Wat Khao Khantamas, and wait for him. Phai told the six boys that he will arrange for them to have sex with the foreigners, and they will get high pay from the foreigners.

All of the boys wanted to get money, so they travelled by the Songthaew. They got off and waited at the appointment point. But there was apparently some mixup about the meeting place, and they never met with Phai. The six boys waited at the bus stop for more than 6 hours. Then they decided to walk to the soi to find the house of foreigner who would pay them for sex. But they were found by the police.

Pol. Sub. Lt. Ubol Wongkhamchai said that from their initial investigation, the police discovered that these children are “tramp children” who beg for money from the tourists in Pattaya.

Because the boys claimed that they are all students, the police will check with their schools to confirm their statements. Police will contact the parents to pick them up, he said. Any child without parents to pick him up will be sent to the care of the children’s home.

Yes, I think there is a lot wrong with this article. What is the evidence that a farang has anything to do with this story? From what is written I would say next to nothing. I guess it makes the story more interesting.
