Marriott Pattaya or Rayong for 1 night?

Featured Replies

I'll be in Pattaya for a month late Dec - late Jan. My gh is already booked but I have a one night Marriott cat 1-4 certificate. It expires in Feb and it's use it or lose it so I figure I might as well go for a night at one of these hotels. FWIW, the JW in Bangkok is cat 5 so it's not an option. I don't have a big desire to go to Bangkok anyway.

The one in Patts is in a great location and, assuming there's availability, I'd book a night late in the trip and just bring someone (seems to be some debate about joiner fees lately). The Marriott in Rayong looks nice but is the transportation worth it? I also don't know if the hotel is isolated or not. I've never been to Rayong but I don't know if the hotel is way out of town.

Looking for opinions......

Rayong is nice for a daytrip out of Pattaya but there is so much more going on in Pattaya. If you go to Rayong I think you will be disappointed.

I would stay in Pattaya and do the day trip to Koh Larn which has very nice beaches.

Stay in patts. No joiner fees. And plenty of ways to get your girl back in the room by bypassing front desk.

It depends what sort of break you are looking for. If it is to go out, party and bing a girl back, then there is no chioce to make - Pattaya Marriott is your only realistic option.

Rayong is pretty sleepy, although the Marriott resort there looks nice. More of a chill out place, nice beach & pools etc. It is scheduled to open later this year and given the delays that often happen in hotel openings here, and then the usual issues shortly after opening, I wouldn't book it until at least late Jan.

There is a Courtyard Marriott in Bangkok if you changed your mind about visiting there.
