Sattahip Couple Attacked by Motorbiking Teen Thugs

A couple riding their motorbike from a Sattahip market was followed by 4 teens on motorbikes. The thugs yanked a gold necklace from the wife’s neck, then they kicked the couple’s bike down to prevent them from following. The wife’s husband was seriously injured in the resulting crash.

SATTAHIP – November 21, 2012[PDN]; at 6 a.m., a report of a violent gold necklace robbery that injured two victims was received by Pol. Sub. Lt. Sinsamut Boontassana, investigation officer, Sattahip police station.

The incident occurred near the office of village chief Moo 5 Soi Bonkai, Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province. The police were notified of the robbery by the village chief Moo 5, Mrs. Janpen Eamsuk.

At the scene, police found first aid being performed on the injured wife by the rescue officer of Sawangrojjanathammasathan Sattahip foundation.

The victim was identified as Mrs. Hathairat Narmpratheung, age 55, the owner of grocery store in Sattahip. She was still frightened, and was injured with scratches all over her body.

The other victim was her husband, Mr. Boonchuay Narmpratheung, age 54. He was severely injured and had been sent to the emergency room at Queen Sirikit hospital. Lying on the roadside was the couple’s overturned and damaged motorbike, a blue Honda Wave 125.

During questioning, Mrs. Hathairat told police that early in the morning, she and her husband had gone out to buy goods at the Sattahip market. But on the way back home, they were followed by 4 teens riding on two motorbikes. The teens were riding black Honda Wave motorbikes. One bike had the license number 756 but she did not know the province.

The teens closed the gap between them, with one motorbike pulling alongside, and the other motorbike trailing behind them. Then the passenger on the bike beside them yanked the gold necklace from Mrs. Hathairat’s neck. The necklace weighed 1 THB and had a gold Buddha image.

The teens on the motorbike behind them then kicked the couple’s motorbike until it overturned. The teens rode away and escaped. Mrs. Hathairat recalled the thieves appeared to be teenagers between ages 16-20. They also were not wearing helmet to conceal their faces.

Pol. Sub. Lt. Sinsamut Boontassana, will continue to question the victims and any witnesses for more information about the thieves’ faces, appearance and their motorbikes. Police will also check CCTV footage along the routes the thieves presumably used to escape.

The police commander is coordinating with the detective police team to follow up to arrest this gang of violent thieves to prosecute according to the law.
