Hotel Key Cards

You learn something every day and I’m not afraid to say that this is so simple I should have known.

 

One of my biggest pains is the fact that my room key is also the electricity key. This means that when I go to the pool or out for a walk the power goes off in the room because I need to take the room key card with me.

 

Over the years I have asked for two keys for the “phantom girl friend” etc but in the end I usually just put up with it. I go out for a walk, get all hot and sweaty, get back to the hotel room and have to wait for he aircon to kick in. Not only that but my fridge stays on so my beer is actually cold.

 

Recently, I was in Bangkok with a mate who is in the travel industry. He came to my room and as I was leaving he remarked that I should use a “loyalty card” instead of the room card. I grabbed a card from my local video library, inserted it in the Electricity Slot and sure enough the power in my room stays on. Such a simple thing that has frustrated me for years.

 

Any other simple tricks that I should know about?
