A few farmyard friends in a rustic setting just outside Pattaya

Wonder-Farm-sign-236x300.jpgJust a couple of hundred metres down the road from the well-visited Viharnra Sien Chinese temple, and on the way to the Buddha image at Khao Chee Chan and Silverlake Vineyard, is a little oasis called Wonder Farm.

It’s the kind of place you see dotted about the main roads of Thailand offering snacks and coffee in rustic settings. This one is a little more elaborate in that it has a main building with a wide verandah and plenty of comfortable seating as well as slides and a trampoline for young children to play on.

There are also a couple of animal pens, one filled with goats and the other has a pond which is home to a shoal of colourful fish and three swans. There are also a few domesticated rabbits hopping about the grounds on the scrounge for food.

According to one of the employees I spoke with, Wonder Farm opened about March this year. I would think it has been attracting a steadily growing clientele since then and it appears to still be a bit of a work in progress.

Wonder-Farm-house-300x187.jpgThis is a place designed mainly for families with young children. After all, there can’t be too many adults interested in looking at domesticated rabbits, a motley collection of goats, two black swans and a white swan.

I'm all ears

The afternoon my family and I visited Wonder Farm it was busy, mainly with Thais, many of whom appeared to have come down for the weekend from Bangkok, but also quite a few foreigners with either Thai or foreign wives.

The coffee (hot, 55baht) was better than I expected and the chocolate brownie (80 baht) also pretty good. Apart from simple snacks and coffee, as well as smoothies, there’s a small restaurant serving Thai cuisine.

Wonder Farm is just the kind of place to spend a relaxing hour or so after traipsing about the sights of Wat Yan and Viharnra Sien before making the trek off to Khao Chee Chan and Silverlake.
