I have 3 .net sites.

 

I wish I had the .com for all of them and actually regret developing the .nets in the first place without securing the .com.

 

I'm essentially promoting the .com because tons of people go to .com no matter how hard you try to beat it into their heads that it's .NET. I'm really trying to emphasize it as .NET but people still end up saying .com and it makes me cringe every time they say it as it means that I am sending my leads to the wrong place. It's very demotivating, actually.

 

If you're trying to run a lead-gen business, .com is a must.

 

Also, according to theopenalgorithm.com - the only place that has done any sort of verifiable analysis on exact match domains - .com is far superior for ranking purposes. .net and .org are about the same. And for other extensions, it is questionable just how much EMD helps. Check out the site, it's pretty interesting.
