Well known micro light pilot dies in crash at Bali Hai pier today?

I have just got a call from a friend in Patts today that a long time Pattaya resident & popular microlight pilot, TOM (from Scotland, sorry cant remember surname), died in a crash as he tried to land his stalled microlight on Bali Hai pier.

Apparantly Tom & his passenger were scattering ashes of a friend in Pattaya bay, they switched of the engine to scatter the ashes, but the engine failed to re-start.

Tom got the passenger to jump into the sea and Tom Bravely triede to land on the pier to save his aircraft, unforetunately this resulted in Tom being thrown from the aircraft & he died at the scene. Passenger survived, i dont know if any injuries?

I have had the pleasure to fly with Tom about 10 years ago, a truly memorable occasion.

My condolances to Toms family, My thoughts are with them, he will be sorely missed.
