A 45-year-old British man stabbed a 37-year-old Thai man with a knife, because of lingering bad feelings after a table reportedly got knocked over. When the Brit later saw theThai man, he attacked him with a knife. The Thai was stabbed in the wrist before his friends beat the Brit.

PATTAYA – November 15, 2012 [PDN]; at 4:30 a.m., a report of a foreigner using a knife to stab at a group of Thai men and injuring someone was received by Pol. Lt. Pallop Ringrod, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station. He rushed to inspect the scene with inspector police, the volunteer police and the rescue officer of Sawangboribul Pattaya foundation.

The incident occurred in front of Udom-aek shop, opposite to Welcome Plaza hotel, second Pattaya road, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. At the scene, police saw many people standing around and gawking.

The stabbing victim was identified as Mr. Sermsak Phoomkong age 37, from Tambon Donkhamyarn, Amphur Muang Suphan, Suphanburi province. Mr. Sermsak had a big wound on his left wrist. His friends hurried to assist him to get on the rescue car to go to Pattaya Memorial hospital.

The armed assailant was a British foreigner named Mr. John Harris, age 45. He was lying down by the iron door in front of the shop, suffering a loss of energy, with a broken and torn head, and bleeding all over the ground. The rescue officer performed first aid for Mr. John and sent him to the hospital, too. Police found a short, black-handled knife that they seized for evidence.

Police questioned the victim’s friends, who claimed they worked in a car rental business. They had put a table on the road to do business near the entrance to Soi 13/4 Pattaya Land. The group of about five men were sitting around drinking, when the foreigner reportedly bumped into their table and it fell over. Harsh words were exchanged between the Britisher and Mr. Somsak. Apparently lingering bad feelings remained.

During the night, the group saw the same foreign man walking around the area four of five times. Then the last time they saw him, he was in a nearby beer bar. When the Britisher saw them again, he hurried to walk out of his bar, and took out his knife to stab at the breast of Mr. Somsak. But Mr. Somsak was using his hand to ward off the knife, so he avoided a potential fatal injury. Then his Thai friends fought against the foreign man until he got injured.

Wonder what "really happened"?

Falang vs. Thai. Thai wins. That's all we need to know.

There was no way in the world he was going to get out of that situation without getting his arse kicked.

i just wonder what came first - the beating or him stabbing the guy.

AND THE TABLE ANY INFOS?

maybe he should of said he thought the thai man was a dog...he'd proabbly be getting loads of sympathy now haha

good on the thai's they shouldn't have stopped...but i guess they arent that bad compared to the tool merchant that got his arse handed to him when he went looking for trouble

Wouldn't be so quick to judge, the reported account was given by the guys 5 friends so I expect there is more to this story than meets the eye.

I wonder about the adjectives... In two stories about knives

We have

a Mad Brit but

an Avenging German

I am not suggesting the reporting is anything but fair. Just curious :GoldenSmile1:

There are some that only employ words for the purpose of disguising their thoughts.

I bet 20 baht alcohol was involved, if not instrumental in the events.

LOL how many people really carry knives for protection?

Maybe protection from the situations they know they will get themselves into?????

Most of us here will stick up for ourselves in a tense situation, especially when you consider alcohol :Think1:

But I would bet a very small minority of us carry knives around Pattaya..

You are more likely to die if you put up a fight with a knife unless you are successful.... and considering some of these Thai guys hang out in groups, chances aren't too good for you to be successful..

I've fought back against someone with a knife and only got stabbed in the arm... I am confident that if I had pull a knife on the assailant he would have poked a big hole in my guts....

Remember we are just "walking bags of liquid"

We're not here for a long time

Just a good time !
