Udon Thani Girls, Bars and Nightlife etc.......info needed!

Having never really got further than Bangkok and Pattaya on my last trip, I would like to see a bit more of the country next time and was thinking about spending a week in Udon Thani while I'm there, maybe stopping off for a night or 2 in Khon Kaen en route.

 

A few questions............I know it won't be like Pattaya, nowhere will be, but what is the nightlife like? Are there still a lot of bars and clubs with bar fineable girls? Not interested in ST only type places, I mean bars where LTs are available as in Pattaya?

 

What about the chances of meeting girls who are NOT working in beer bars or GoGo's ? Are there any good bars,clubs, places where you could meet local girls in the 'normal' way!? If so would they be likely to want to spend a few days with you if they liked you? Just wondering if things work differently in the less tourist orientated places.

 

What about hotels, eateries, bar prices, barfines, drinks etc pricewise?. Is Udon Thani cheaper than Pattaya because there are less tourists there?

 

Would Udon be a good place to spend a week in, or would 3 or 4 days be enough?

Well you can go to Walking Street in Udon Thani. It has bars and they all server the same thing Chang Beer and Blend 285. As well as food stalls. But when I was there with my wife visiting family I saw a lot of young good looking woman and they have some cute girls serving the drinks.

Why did you chose Udon Thani, Some trek up there although you can fly from Bkk, no need to go that far IMO

Two main bar areas in Udon, Day & Night complex & Nutty Park both near to each other plus bars dotted around, nice pub there the Irish Clock with decent farang food, good selection of hotels/restaurants/shopping areas.

Khon Kaen has less bars with girls but has a massive Uni. with thousands, some decent hotels plus the 5* Pullman if you want to splash out. If you are traveling by bus I would go 1 day travel 2 nights KK short ride to Udon 3 nights then 1 day travel back to Patts.

Thanks not sure about KK, doesn't sound like there's much action there? Udon sounds better I think.

Hi there I have spent weeks in Udon and KK. Udon has a good nightlife in the areas mentioned above. I stayed at the Centara as high class as it gets in Udon, the large disco is just the other side of the parking lot. I only went there with dates but in walks to the boys room there were always lots of touches and looks. I also stayed at @ home Udon, new basic hotel very adequate, surrounded by bars and close to the main Walking Street. Also stayed at the Irish Clock a good old standby with the cutest bar staff in Udon. Be careful when booking a hotel one I stayed at was 5 k from the center if town and Agoda said it was .5 k. Could not get taxis to and from, only stayed one night. Lots of choice of girls. Left bar fining a bit ate one night a Tuk Tuk driver soon found me an after hours place where there was ample choice, did not stay to drink though!

 

KK is quite although there are decent bars down the street and around the corner from the Pullman. I only came across about 4 or 5 where it was obvious you could bar fine or pick a freelancer. Again Tuk Tuk driver was a big help one night. Only stayed T the Peeman Garden there very nice but far from the main bar scene, need a Tuk Tuk. If you are young, I am not the university is massive and I am sure there is a bar scene connected to it, I never trid.

 

Hope that helps, my humble opinion both worth the trip, KK has a great great expat group that meet at the first bar across the street from the Pullman, it is a mans name I forget may Ray every afternoon around 5 or so they get started, very welcoming.

The bar you are talking about in KK is Leos bar, quite near is Erics bar & opposite is My Bar run by an Aussie.

IMO the best value hotel in Udon is the Pannarai next to the Irish Clock
