Possible to get multi entry 90 day visa from inside Thailand? What are the mult entry friendly consulates?!

I am wanting to stay in Thailand for the whole year next year, I thought I had everything under control to get a 90 day multi entry visa for the year, meaning I only have to do 3 visa runs the whole year. As luck would have it the Thai Consulate didnt issue me the multi entry but only would give me single entry, telling me I can get multi entry extension once Im in Thailand. Is this possible? Anyone else done this? If its not I am thinking my best option now would be to use my 3 months on the single entry, then leave Thailand on a visa run and apply for a multi entry visa at Laos or Burma wherever the visa runs go. Would this be the best option? Anyone have experience with any consulates overseas that easily give multi entry visas.

Any info would be much appreciated Cheers

I don't think there are any multiple entry friendly embassies in Asia. I would be careful getting a visa organised in Thailand as, at least, some are not legit. A liable option may be to learn some Thai and stay on an education visa.

Thanks, what a bugger that they wouldnt give it to me here in Sydney, going to make things so much harder. Is the education Visa the most cost effective way? If I dont get it what would be my options? I could get it extended 30 days at immigration, so that would be 4 months, then maybe visa run and get another single entry for 90 days? and do the whole process again? Very frustrating, how do you get the SYdney consulate to give you a multi entry,,they wouldnt give it to me for boxing.

For The education visa, first go to a school in Thailand, pay around 25.000 baht for 1 year. then with all the papers you have to go in a thailand ambassy outside thailand, in your country , laos, cambodia...

In belgium i wait for 3 days and receive my 1 year education visa, but after that you have to go, every 3 month to the immigration for the extension. 2000 baht. In joomtien immigration for me.

The reason they will not give you a multiple entry 90 days visa is because you are not eligible for the non-immigrant visa (unless I have misunderstood what you have posted). You are lucky that they gave you a single entry one. I know it is too late now but a triple entry 60 day tourist visa may have suited your situation better.

so the education visa is pretty much 25k + 6k for the quarterly extensions? Seems like it would save so much time seeing as you dont have to leave after you got it, seems worth it.

I guess the other option would be doing a visa run every 2 months or so, which I think is like 2000 baht and and 8 hour bus ride + any visa costs if any for a 60 day visa?..

I should call them tomorrow... and try to cancel it and go for the tourist triple entry. SHIT! I was too impulsive just didnt want to have to go to the consulate again.

i dont know if we're talking apples and oranges here but as the above poster points out the easiest method ime is to get a multiple entry tourist visa..i think you can get up to a triple entry...

now im rusty with this, but this used to get you 60 days on arrival and then an extentsion at jomtien immigration for 30 days..you then do a visa run to cambodia on the bus and when you re-enter make sure they are aware of your tourist visa and you will get another 60 days with 30 days extentsion etc

its a timing thing though as you have to look at when the visa expires..i remember losing a couple of days as i hadnt planned my visa runs properly

all the best

Could I get the triple entry tourist visa from doing a visa run to Cambodia or nearby country, maybe after the 90 days on my single entry I could apply for a 60 day triple entry visa. That could work!

My mate had an education visa and they used to check his Thai language skills at immigration to make sure he was really going, as many just have it to stay longer with no visa run.

They never check my thai language skills in joomtien immigration. But not a big deal, just have to go 2 hours, twice a week to school. Or once a week if you dont have time.

Mate, the Sydney consulate are really strict. I am over 50 and was issued with a 12 month O multi-entry visa from the UK. 1 year later, i try to get "same same" from Sydney....no chance. I am over 50, got a Thai GF, a house leased in Issan, plenty UK savings, a generous pension and a Thai bank account. I still cannot get an O visa out of them. So I am currently on a 60 day visa - can get another O visa next time I am in the UK....unbelievable :Crazy1:

Interesting, just goes to show who you encounter when applying. When I went into the Sydney office, I told them all my information and asked " What are my options ?". They sat me down, explained the different types of visas and then gave me a copy of the paperwork and made sure that it was filled in correctly. Asked if I wanted to pick it up my passport with the visa or posted out to me.I am in Newcastle so took the post option and 5 days later I received it. I went with the 12 month O multi-entry visa. I must have caught them on a good day or something but my dealings with them were great. Hopefully next time will be too.

cheers

Can't you get a retirement visa once you're fifty?

I thought a 90 day multi entry visa meant you could come and go within the 90 days. How does it let you only do 3 visa runs after it has expired?

Posted

Multi entry lasts a year.3 months when you enter then 3 visa runs ,3 months each, making a year. You can then do another visa run the day it runs out to make a total of 15 months.

My understanding is that yes of course you can get a retirement visa in Thailand when you are over 50 and fulfill certain financial and other criteria, but you must have an O visa (not a tourist visa) to apply. My problem is I can't get an O visa from Sydney consulate...any advice?

Just for clarification the visa is available to those 50 and over.

Lottelee winner,

A retirement visa is yes 50 years old and above and if you are in Thailand on a tourist visa and have the financial criteria the Thai Immigration will allow you to change from a tourist to a 90 day non immigrant and a retirement visa at the same time

So the first visa will be 15 months, 90 days non immigrant and 1 year retirement, they only allow you to change from a tourist visa 60 days or 30 days to a non immigrant for retirement visa purposes only

the forms you need are a TM86 which is to convert the tourist to a non Imiimgrany and a TM7 for a 1 year retirement

Hi Darren many thanks for your reponse. I am looking to retire to LOS, I am over 50 with an income of over 65k THB pm (from an occupational pension), substantial aus and uk savings, a thai bank account, a thai 6 month property lease and a thai GF...of course :GoldenSmile1: .

15 months ago I got a non O visa straight away from the UK...no probs.A couple of months ago I tried to repeat the process at the Sydney Thai consulateand they would not give me it, they said I should never have been given it in the UK (I am a UK national but have been working in Aus)...so all I got was the 60 day tourist visa. I am about to apply to the Sydney consulate again for a non O...any advice???

Cheers buddy!

Hey Lottellee, from what I have heard so far is its best to apply to another thai consulate other than Syd in Aus, the smaller ones apparently issue non o visas a lot easier. Maybe call them up before and just post ur passport and forms off to them once u get the ok.

Is it possible to get two visas at the same time, because I want to do the same thing but I have already been issues a single entry 90 day visa, Can I change it so a tourist visa from thailand? Or do I have to go to cambodia to do this?

1. I am 28 years old.

2. I would like to stay longer than a year if possible (Girlfriend is pregnant and would love the boy the have his childhood in thailand.)

3. They have given me a single entry 90 day visa, I said I was doing kickboxing which I am not really doing and they gave me a business visa for some reason, Single entry 90 day.

Appreciate the help,

I don't believe that is the case at the moment. I know that Perth and Brisbane where easy. The Perth consulate closed and I don't think that Brisbane is easy now.

No, if they issue a second one they will cancel the existing one.
