I give people the benefit of the doubt but I never gave credence to your fantasy of a Golden Retriever x Alsation cross that you introduced. I also discarded your assertion that it is a soi dog.

 

The picture of the dog is definitely a Golden Retriever with a collar and the concern from the owner is evident.

 

This is not my idea of a “Soi Dog” and I doubt environmental conditions would change the breeding of a Golden Retriever to make it vicious. Am I gullable or do I just trust my instincts?

 

The fact that you were happy to “Infer” that you had intimate knowledge of the village because it was YOUR village left me with the option of calling you a liar or using your inference against you. I prefer to believe people but that doesn’t mean that I don’t question their information.

" and nothing else is sufficient for you to conclude that it was my village and to say that I was inferring that I had intimate knowledge demonstrated to me beyond doubt that you are gullible and that worse than that, you are prepared to take your mistaken assumptions and use them as facts to influence others.

There are no Kennel Club RULES here and no pedigrees so no fixed breed types.

It's too many dogs, and they work out the pecking order if humans don't stop it. The Retriever seems to have lots of scars on the legs, it was in bitings hundreds of times. I wrote earlier that my Pit Bull gets attacked all the time. There is a dog with paralysed hind legs amongst them down the street (all in all maybe 40 dogs on the 400 metre stretch), and even that one drags itself to battle. Their resources are limited, the strongest dogs eat first from what is poured on the street, or the garbage in the bins. It's also about reproduction rights, almost all of them are males. Females die early, usually after the first litter.

The neighbour has a huge Rottweiler, and my dog loves to play with it. They growl, and bark, chase and knock each other over, but they don't bite each other. At least there is a large zone around our houses the street dogs don't dare to enter.

That sounds more like reality to me, though they might all have pretty names too.

The pecking order gets established for those which grow up there or live there, but it can be a nightmare for those which farang try to keep as pets when they take them for a walk on a lead.

 

To say that the soi dog fights are never to the death would be naive.

They might not die there and then in a dramatic fight to the finish, but some just crawl off into the jungle after a fight and don't come back.

The smell can waft across the road for days sometimes.

 

It's no big deal and it's not always that extreme by any means, but I've seen it plenty of times and had a puppy savaged which eventually died.

In the village I live in now, you might think dogs weren't permitted at all going by the number you see about.

My neighbour across the road has a dog, but I didn't even know until I went in there.

That is so bad. I have a lot more faith in the dog then the old German chap - I'm will gladly make the assumption that he is a sick, twisted piece of work. When you are a fully grown man (albeit not a spring chicken) and have a Rottweiler with you - I can't think if anything a golden retriever could do that would warrant stabbing it 17 times. Sick sick man.

well judgements are being made about the family by assuming they had a problem dog that was a menace to the village and that they failed to act upon it, their house also looked like a nice house and village rather than a cheaper house/village of which there are plenty, the husband also works for the navy possibly teaching new recruits

He paid for his dog at least 10k to a breeder, while the Thais picked their mutt up from the street, where it continued to live. That's not a Labrador from a breeder, but a mix with different from a pure breed properties. It has most likely never seen a vet, nor any training. It was flea-bitten, and suffered from a host of conditions, perhaps mange or leprosy amongst them. Many soi dogs got that in Thailand, and they can infect humans. I fully understand that the man wanted to protect the health of his dog. If he was bitten by the Labrador, the next he should do is get vaccination against rabies, for himself and his dog. A Retriever sissy in his right mind would not attack an adult Rottweiler indeed. Here is the future this street dog was lucky to escape.

i know you might entertain yourself trying to bait and wind people up..but im not wound up, im just replying, the assumptions are that the dog was a menace, usually that is associated with poorer families that have no money or inclination to care for an animal..then theres the assumption that the thais are only kicking up a fuss for money rather than the fact that their dog was butchered by a guest in their country

 

...this was a naval officer that possibly was involved in education..a few rungs up the ladder from those that are lucky to earn 120,000 baht per annum...but even in that wage bracket you get some lovely genuine families...most of the trash in pattaya is to do with the trashy westerners that have invaded their city...what came first the chicken or the egg?? haha

Sometimes when you have to put up with vicious dogs in your village day after day, you can just snap.Im not excusing his actions but i know what its like.Makes your life a misery.Ive had the same dog shitting outside my gate everyday for the last few years.Not a day goes by when i dont think how i could kill it,though i never would.
