hi I am booked in on the 18/12/12,now at the last minute my brother wants to come with me(he is on a pension),my question is do you think my brother can find cheap rooms by walking in?

Posted

The answer is yes. But you'll have to do with the room you find.

If he's ok with a guest house 500b to 800b, plenty in soi 13; 13/2; 13/3.

As said many times, I walked in this soi (13/1) at midnight on 24th december. I got a room in less than 5 minutes for 500b. Then, the next day, can spend a bit more time to find somthing better.

Did this once. Problem is finding room for more than a few days. Had to change 3 times:( Was Christmas / N/Year period.

Yes, I agree with this. When you've got a good room, you want to keep it. But the problem in Pattaya is whatever you book, you know if the room will be good only when you get in it.

In high season, if you get the room with the pushy aircon or with the noisy neighbours, as all the other rooms are booked, you're fucked and have to stick to the one you're in. Happened to me too many times around the world, but Asians are pretty good at this...

I wouldn't risk it, near Christmas and new years it is crazy how so many high end hotels and shitty guest houses are fully booked. Who wants to go lugging your bags around looking for a place.

you still have plenty of time to prebook.

browse forum, make a shortlist, read reviews and ask for recommendations.

or take pot luck when you land.

enjoy

I have to agree with this. Though I would act fast.

You can't always get what you want but if you try, sometimes you might find that you get what you need.

if you look on hostel bookers or hostelworld websites they do good cheap places and you only need to pay a 10%deposit.also try late rooms.com they have good cheap rooms with no deposit just book and pay on arrival.

hope he gets there with you and as a good time

take care buddy.

I would not chance it

Plenty of rooms still available at the moment pre book 100%

IMO it is a bit of a gamble that you will get reasonable priced good accomodation. I have recently booked accommodation for Dec. Most of my regular places were fully booked out or could only take me for a few days then move on. I do not want to come to Pattaya to spend a lot of time looking for accommodation, more interesting things to do. If the dates are firm then go for certainity otherwise you will waste a lot of time.

Hi Stubbs. Roof Garden Inn on Thaphraya Road, 700B a night for quite nice rooms. Google their website and send an email. They dont require a deposit.

Seven Seas Inn also.

I don't like walk-ins unless I am already there....so book a couple of nights then check around.

I would not bother with the Apex it's a smelly hotel old and tired and they are not on the web

I would NOT stay there one night let alone a couple of weeks.

They are on web

Apexhotelpattaya.com

I have stayed at hard rock, montien, ship hotel, flipper 7 and. 8 , sunshine, sabai lodge, nova lodge, now centra, swasadee soi honey, and of course apex

Best for value on dlollars, sabai lodge is best but for sheer location apex is brilliant.

Suggest you look at hotel with an open mind and question why it is usually always full.

There is a new and old section, try for a new room and have a look at a couplemof rooms, you should be able to find a good one.

Also bear in mind we are talking just over $20AUD and I believe it is good value.

Email them and you will receive a reply.

This is exacly what I did last month - it gives you an opportunity to form a base and if you are not keen on the hotel then you have sufficient time to find a new one.

I am staying near tukcom on soi bak.

What could be funny is by walking in Soi Bakhao, your brother could end up in a better room than yours, cheaper and well located... (or could not).

But if you are targetting some 500b guesthouse, the best would be to drop all gears in your room, both have a good shower ann then from tuckom walk relax in soi buakhao and ask to visit room when it's advertised in the street. Dozen all around.

There are also lots of rooms in sois behind Tukcom.

You can use my thread "How to choose your hotel" in my signaturen to spot hotels near yours.

Also, your hotel could have a room for your brother from a last minute cancellation. So don"t panic and just get there and see once there imo.

Thanks for this little bit of info.

I will be doing this exact thing tonight if all goes well.

A last minute short trip where I am arriving in Pattaya around 2:00 in the morning.

No booking...looking forward to the adventure. :)
