You'll get a better deal at the Platinum head office on Phetburi Dap Mai in Bangok, it's not far from the Amari Atrium hotel on the opposite side of the road. The bikes are Chinese made and I think they may be worth a punt.....maybe. They do a great easy-rider style 250 bike for around 60,000 and an enduro for around 45 which is chips in anyone's money but there does seem to be a lot of plastic on them which worries me a bit.

I've got a lovely Kawasaki Boss with all the whistles and bells you can have for 50,000, cash!

Likewise im going to be looking into buying a bike as cant be botherd to waste money on renting anymore. Secondhand around 20k-25k will do me, cant be assed to spend 45k or more on a new bike....

Thanks Guys. You are correct, I cant be bothered with renting. My only problem is that I hate to buy s bike just to use 2-weeks at a time every 4 months (my vacation schedule). At least i know my options better now.

Thanks again.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE.

In Jan09 I finally bought a 135cc Yamaha Nuevo. I checked around a few places and found a pretty good deal I think.

I got 2 years Theft and Damage Insurance. 2 New Helmets, Tags, ect all were 55,000 Baht ($1200USD)It was easy to put in my name as well. I'm around 106Kg (235Lbs) and it has enough power to take me and a small Thai girl up Buddha Hill with no problems.

฿55,000 is not $1,200, it's closer to $1,600.

Ha, the Yamaha Nouvo Elegance is the best and most expenceive motorbike on today's market.

AFAIK it is the only 135cc bike with automatic transmission.

I'm riding 110 cc Honda Click and it has much more power then i really need. But i'm 65kg and my girl is only 38kg

Most of the taxi drivers riding 100cc Honda Wave. It is most reliable bike in Thailand that cost only 36k baht brand new, but it's not a full automatic.

nice bike but do you not worry about theft - the most expensive bike is likely a much more attractive target than a cheap model.

I also thought the bike had to be at least 150cc before you could get real theft and damage insurance??
