A “good looking” 19-year-old female was so scared she urinated in her pants during a rape attempt by a 49-year-old sailor in a Sattahip hotel room. The man was a family acquaintance, so she had gone with him to a bar. After they got very drunk, he tried to rape her, but she fought off his advances. He then escaped in his car.

SATTAHIP – November 7, 2012 [PDN]; at 2 a.m., a report of an attempted rape of a woman through deception was received by Pol. Lt. Narate Boonthee, investigation officer, Sattahip police station. He was notified by Commander Veerayuth Kongpit, age 60, the owner of resort Baan Rai Phu Fha address 187/53 Moo 7 Tambon Bang Sarey, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

He rushed to inspect the scene with Pol. Col. Chonnaphat Nawalak, Superintendent, Sattahip police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Prakorb Saengpring, Deputy Superintendent; Pol. Lt. Col. Niphon Pomsanarm, Deputy Superintendent; and the detective team of the protection and subduing crime unit.

At the scene, police found the victim, “Ms. Ploy” (alias), age 19, the niece of the owner of karaoke shop in Akethani market, Tambon Plutaluang, Amphur Sattahip.

The victim was so frightened that she had urinated in her pants, and there were many scratches on her body from fighting off the rapist. Her relatives were consoling her closely. Meanwhile, the trouble maker had driven his car to escape from the scene. The man is a 49-year-old sailor with the rank of Lieutenant. He is also the owner of drinking water business in the market.

Ms. Ploy said that she got to know and the sailor because he always came to their shop. The man had previously asked permission from her aunt take Ms. Ploy to dinner at the restaurant, but he had never molested her.

However, on the night of the incident, the sailor came to ask permission from her aunt to drink liquor at an entertainment center. Then they both got drunk. On the drive back to her shop, the sailor brought her to the resort, where he then tried to molest her. But she resisted to fight him and ran away to ask assistance from the resort owner. Meanwhile the sailor hurried to drive his car to escape.

The resort owner, Commander Veerayuth Kongpit, said that he had seen the sailor bring the woman to the resort, and they rented room number 2. He noticed that both of them were severely drunk when they entered the room.

After a short while, Mr. Veerayuth said he heard the voice of the woman crying, and then she ran from the room and shouted to ask assistance, and told him that she was raped. Meanwhile the sailor hurried to drive the car to escape from the incident. So the resort owner made a phone call to her relatives and notified the police.

After receiving the report, police sent the victim to the hospital to check her body for signs of assault, and made daily notes for evidence. The detective police team will follow up to investigate the trouble maker to find out the facts, since both parties knew each other so well. However, if the police find evidence that the sailor really tried to rape her, he will be prosecuted according to the law.
