A Husband and his 3 month pregnant Wife were arrested on Wednesday, accused of stealing a car belonging to the German owner of a luxury Resort in the Eastern outskirts of Pattaya.

A press conference was held at Banglamung Police Station on Wednesday afternoon led by Police Colonel Somnook, the station chief, who announced the arrest of Khun Rungrort aged 27 and his pregnant wife Khun Sunisar aged 20. The pair were arrested at a Resort in Sakon Nakon Province in the North-East of Thailand by local Police in the area following a tip-off from Banglamung Police.

The BMW 730li belongs to Mr. Michael Procher, a well-known Pattaya hotelier who now runs the Getaway Resort in Pong Municipality in East Pattaya. He recently employed the suspects, unaware that the male was on-bail relating to a case of theft from the Hua Yai area, just South of Pattaya. The pair worked well, according to Mr. Procher and they showed particular interest in his car and offered to clean the car and in return asked if they could start the car. Mr. Procher saw no reason not to trust the pair with the keys and initially nothing untoward occured. Days later, the pair volunteered to clean Mr. Procher’s bedroom at the resort and once again he accepted the offer.

When Mr. Procher woke up the next day, he realized the pair had left and his car had disappeared. He assumed that the keys to the car were stolen as the pair cleaned his room. The apparent theft was reported to Police who managed to track the car and the suspects to the North-Eastern Province. They are now behind bars and have been further charged with auto-theft which will be added to the initial case of theft currently ongoing which is being dealt with by Huay Yai Police Station.

Mr. Procher showed his appreciated to Police for finding his car and arresting the two suspects with a presentation of flowers and a framed picture of the car.
