Security Guard killed by fallen pylon at Condominium complex in Bang Saray

A security guard working at a condominium in Bang Saray, close to Pattaya, was killed on Tuesday afternoon after a newly installed electric pylon fell on him and his motorbike as he drove past the new construction. Police and rescue services were called to AD Condominium in Bang Saray just after midday and inspected the scene.

Underneath the fallen pylon was the body of Khun Mongkol aged 48, a security guard working for the LKK Security Company, who are contracted to work at the Condominium. A fellow worker told Police that at the time he was on patrol around the grounds on his motorbike when he was struck by the falling pylon.

Police also spoke with Khun Somgiet aged 23 who was part of a team contracted by the local electric authority to install the new pylon. He stated that the pylon had been put into position and was sitting in a 1 meter deep hole. The next stage would have seen concrete being poured into the hole to secure the pylon, however the concrete mixer had not yet arrived so the workers decided to take a break and eat lunch. They did not warn the Security Guards that the pylon was not properly installed and while the site was clear of workers, who were eating lunch, Khun Mongkol arrived and the pylon fell.

A full investigation by Police and the electric authority is now under-way.
