I'm a white male who used to smoke when in Pattaya. Back at the hotel, after a long night on various bottled beers, followed by some Chicken Vindaloo and a large helping of the TG's Som Tam, I was in the bathroom. After letting off the most enormous ' raspberry', I lit up a cigarette, whilst the foul air cleared. There was the most enormous methane explosion!! I lost all my pubic hair and the David Crockett artificial hair extension, which earlier that day had been so carefully, and expensively, braided into my own thinning ponytail.. I lost one of my eyebrows also!

 

They always say that smoking is dangerous.

 

I am a non-smoker these days of course.

Not talking about the bars - I dont have to go in bars. But everywhere there are white males smoking : along the beach, the smoking ghettos in front of the supermarkets. all the sidewalk cafes. In the condos and apartments. There should be a law against it. Its not like having a drink, because the drink is not forced down the throat of non drinkers.

IMO this is postworthy since the cigarette smoking percent of white males in Pattaya seems extraordinary.

 

I see that your from Albania - where 40% of the population smoke and according to my research, anti-smoking laws aren't apparently observed - one would think you'd be accustomed to a lot of white males (and females) smoking around you, everywhere you go. Were you expecting to come to S.E.A. to get away from all those smokers? If yes, sorry you're disappointed. Might I suggest Canada or the USA next time? We're real sticklers about our anti-smoking laws here.

No I am not a smoker now but used to be years ago so l say live and let live perhaps there are some habits or things we all do that some people may object to.

 

You may not believe this but there are actually some people who think paying for sex is immoral and we are somehow exploiting the girls when in fact as we all know the opposite is more more likely the case.

 

Go to just about any village in Issan and see the houses some of these girls have had built for them and the pick up trucks or cars.then tell me who is exploiting who.

One of the definitions of a free society is letting people do what you might find offensive. Same with free speech. Otherwise pretty much everything gets banned. If you're bothered by it stay where you are. A lot of people enjoy Pattaya because it's a tale of live and let live, none of the Western 'let's force something down everyones throat' shit. Live with it.

Yes I smoke. One of things I enjoy about Pattaya is that I can smoke in bars. For a few years now in Australia they've been banning us from smoking everywhere ( ok slight exaggeration ). I must say that I am well aware that not everyone enjoys cigarettes, so if I'm near a non-smoker I make sure I blow my smoke away from them.

As long as you got baht in you're pocket, looking old isn't an issue. And smelling bad? There's a 7-11 with shitloads of things to solve that on every corner in Pattaya. Not to mention most of the girls in Patts smoke as well and thus do not care.

 

Aren't we all old enough to make our own choices? I too hate to look at the fat gut of the next best German, but I ain't going to ask them to stop eating now am I?

There is only one way for you to protest about the smokers & get people to listen and act ....don't come to thailand, protest with your feet ...that will teach them & i'm sure swift action will be taken by the authorities/tourists & thai's to rectify this problem .Then you can go to another country & complain about their way of life ....
