went to tonys few yeara ago and was training one to one with coach but he asked me for a tip if he taught me good, this put me off straight away and i lied to him yes i would give him a 1000b at end of month when my 30 day membership was up... so this put me off from the start. the mebership i paid up front for 1 month and the first few sessions i was made to stand and excercise by myself with push ups . sit ups etc and very little pad work or technique. i think this was a ploy to get me to get bored and pull out hence i pull out and they get 3,ooo baht for free without having to teach/train anyone.

checked out fairtex but its far too expensive for me, cheapest rooms plus 2 sessions per day work out at around 2600 baht.

any idea,s ?

I know Gold Gym on 3rd road charges a 300 Baht per session. I am planing to spend my day time in weight training and kick some pads. Unless, you are looking for a camp, that's a different story.

thanks steady , all i want is to do some weights and get on the pads like yourself, golds out of the way but at least it will give me something to do either walk or jog up there.

golden glory on soi 15 thappraya rd looks real serious.

not a recommendation but worth a scoot up.

G'day,

I trained at Sitythong of siam country club road just past the market then turn left. Cost was 250B a session, for that you got a trainer who took you for a good seven rounds on the pads. My trainer was a former Champ from Lumpini. Great atmosphere and good people, cannot speak highly enough of it. Good luck mate.

I second Golden Gym on 3rd road for a decent work out. I've been going there for 3 years now when I'm in Pattaya. 300 baht gets you access to the gym and a few rounds on the pads with a trainer.

It used to be owned by a dutch lady who was a pro fighter herself, but last I heard, she had a baby, sold the gym and moved somewhere (to Phuket I think). The Muay Thai instruction has gone downhill since she left (fewer rounds, less intense, etc), but it's still decent enough for the money plus you get 2 floors of weights and equipment.

Post an update here if you go, I'm curious how Muay Thai is there now.

There's an another option for western boxing across the street on 3rd road and about a 100 meters north from Golden Gym. An older Australian gentlemen bought that gym and was setting it up with a heavy bag and a speed bag. He ran it with his Thai wife. I think he was either a pro fighter or trainer back in the day. He gave a decent session on the pads and he watches and corrects your technique on the bag. Also about 300 baht or so per session if I remember correctly and a fully equipped gym, although smaller than Golden Gym.

Hi,

Next to Big C (earlier Carfour on 2nd road I think) there is a good gym, forgotten the name. Next to Big C there is a cross, after the cross almost 50 meter on the other side of the road you see it very easily. How expensive it is I do not know but I see many Thai people also training there. They have all kind of Marshal arts and a gym.

Try Golden Gym,trained there before, very reasonable with the price and the service

You can try the camp at tonys again, it has a new owner from the US for some time now. I also went to tonys a few years ago when it had the old owner. I had the same issue with the asking for tips and just too many students for only one trainer. But at the time it only cost 150B if you were a member of tony fitness.

I went there again a month or so ago, and I must say the training is very good now. No asking for Tips and the trainers actually have the time to teach you stuff on the pads. Plus they also know what they are doing, I was completely out of shape (still am) first time I went, but the trainer was able to keep the training at a level that I was still able to go 5 rounds. And now he ups the intensity each session.

They speak good English too, only thing is that’s its quite small so if you have more than 5 or 6 people there it might gets busy on the bags etc. But otherwise I would recommend to give it another try prices is 300 and I think it opens at 2pm

asiansun, the beasting before the training is the oldest trick in the book..it either bores you into submission or leaves you in a condition where you are less likely to do a lot of rounds(when they work) as you are too tired

the gym with the orphans on siam country club is sityodtong, kru yodtong has been in the area for decades and had some of the best fighters/champs at his gym

sitpohlek is reasonable for training, ask for frank, the gym is on sukhumvit road towards bkk/pattaya hospital, it's just past the big central air sign on the opposite side of the road, the training is about 3,500 b per month

Fairtex at Naklua is the best.

"Man...Because he sacrifies his health in order to make money. Then sacrifies money to recuperate his health. And then his so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if hes never going to die, and then dies having never really lived "
