Desperate Issan Mom Sells Daughter For Sex

A 37-year old mother from Chaiyaphum province was arrested for offering her 15-year-old daughter for sex to foreign tourists on Pattaya Beach. The mom said she owed 100,000 THB to loan sharks, and her daughter did not object to having sex for money.

PATTAYA – November 2, 2012 [PDN]; at 12:30 a.m., police arrested a woman for selling the sexual services of her underage daughter. The arrest was made by Pol. Col. Kreetha Tankanarat, Superintendent, Chonburi province, acting to help the Center of Protecting Children and Women, and subduing for human trade, section 2, Chonburi province.They mobilized forces of police of the Center of Protecting Children and Women, Chonburi province; along with Pol. Sub. Lt. Nithit Krairat, Deputy Inspector, Banglamung police station.

The suspect was identified as Mrs. Duangjai Pholkhammak, age 37, address 82 Moo 6 Tambon Nonthong, Amphur Kasetsomboon, Chaiyaphum province. She is charged with an accusation of engaging in human trade and seeking benefit from illegal human trading.

The arrest was made in a hotel in central Pattaya. Police seized the evidence of four 1,000 THB banknotes paid to the mother by an undercover agent. The investigation of the mother was the result of an earlier directive to crack down on prostitution in Pattaya. The police commissioner of Chonburi province had commanded the local police to step up their investigation of illegal prostitution, according to the policy of the Director-General to strictly subdue drug activity and human trading.

Police eventually discovered that the Mrs. Duang was peddling her own daughter to sell sexual services to foreigners on Pattaya Beach in front of the Royal Garden department store.

So the police used an undercover foreign agent to contact the mother to buy her daughter’s sexual services for 4,000 THB. The mother agreed to the price and made an appointment to meet later at a central Pattaya hotel.

At the appointment time, Mrs. Duang brought her daughter to the hotel room to wait for the undercover agent. Then he walked into the room and gave the money to the mom. When Mrs. Duang walked out from the hotel room, the police arrested her with the 4,000 THB cash in the pocket of her pants. Her daughter, “Ms. Moota” (alias), age 15, was restrained for investigation.

After her arrest, Mrs. Duang confessed that she had brought her own daughter from the upcountry to sit on the side of Pattaya beach to sell sexual service to foreigners. They had done this twice before, and both times her daughter consented to do so, said Mrs. Duang. The mother added that she did not force or threaten her daughter into having sex for money.

She explained that the reason for selling her daughter was because of severe money problems. She owed almost 100,000 THB to illegal loan sharks, who expected daily repayments. So she had to bring her own daughter to Pattaya to sell her sexual services.
