An unknown person hid himself in a building at Banglamung hospital until the building closed at 6 p.m. After the doors were locked from the outside, the sick person then broke into a donation box and stole more than 30,000 THB cash before escaping on a bicycle.

PATTAYA – November 1, 2012 [PDN]; at 1 a.m., a report of a hospital donation box being broken into was received by Pol. Sub. Lt. Pisarn Phongphakaew, investigation officer on duty, Banglamung police station, Chonburi province.

The donation box was in the outpatient area of the Pattayathorn building at Banglamung hospital Moo 5, Tambon Na Kleu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

The plastic, 1-meter-square box had had been dragged from its original location and left behind the diagnostic room in the building. The box was damaged from being broken into and some coins lay scattered on the floor. The box had contained money to help buy land and doctor’s equipment.

Police questioned the hospital security guard, who said that the building usually closes at 6 p.m. He then locks every door so that it can only be opened from the inside. He told police that while he was walking around to check everything in front of the hospital, an alarm signal went off twice, signaling an intruder was in the building.

Then the security guard saw a suspicious-looking thin man riding a bicycle very quickly as if to escape from the area. The man appeared to be a foreigner and had a black skin color.

So the guard went into the building to inspect. He discovered that the donation box was not in its usual location in front of the medicine room, and had been dragged behind the diagnostic room. The thief had broken into the box and stole the donation money, estimated at more than 30,000 THB. So the guard notified the police immediately to find the thief, but he had disappeared without a trace.

After investigating and inspecting the scene, the police made daily notes for evidence. Initially, the police speculated that the thief had pretended he wanted to see a doctor, but instead had hid in the building to wait until the building had closed to steal the donation money.

The police will check for fingerprints on the donation box and inspect the CCTV of a nearby minimart in detail to see if it has images of the thief. Police will continue to follow up to arrest the thief to prosecute further according to the law.

The good thing about Singapore is that they believe in corporal punishment. They cane the living shit out of criminals.
