A Russian mother was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler truck on Sukhumvit Road after she pushed her daughter out of the truck's path. Her daughter, less than 2 years old, had dashed onto the street while the parents were buying fruit.

SATTAHIP – October 20, 2012 [PDN]; at 1 a.m., a report of an 18-wheeler truck killing a foreign pedestrian and injuring another was received by Pol. Sub. Lt. Niphon Nonkleu, investigation officer on duty, Na Jomtien police station. Police rushed to inspect the scene with the rescue officer of Sawangrojjanathammasathan Sattahip foundation.

The incident occurred on Sukhumvit road, route Pattaya-Sattahip, opposite to Dor-Chada hotel, Moo 9 Tambon Na Jomtien, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

At the scene, on the left lane of the road, police found the body of an unidentified Russian woman, age approximately 30, lying in a pool of blood, wearing jeans shorts and a short-sleeved blue shirt. The impact of the truck had severely injured both her legs and also broke open her skull.

Also injured was the woman’s daughter, identified as Victora Kolchanuva, about 1 year and 7 months old, nationality Russian. The rescue officer rushed the daughter to the emergency room of Bangkok-Pattaya hospital.

The 18-wheel truck was parked nearby, a white Isuzu, license number 80-9885 Chonburi. The truck had been carrying a load of stones from Aroonrojsiri Co., Ltd. The truck’s front right headlight was broken, and hairs from the Russian woman were attached to the wrecked headlight.

Waiting for the police was the still shaken driver, Mr. Supphachai Karnjanakrajarng, age 21, address 527/1 Moo 10 Tambon Huay Yai, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

Mr. Supphachai told police he had loaded the stones on his truck to deliver to a customer in Pattaya, and was driving back. When he reached the spot of the accident, he didn’t see the Russian woman running onto the street.

But he felt like he collided with something, and then he heard the loud voice of someone screaming, so he looked in his rear-view mirror and saw his truck had hit the woman. Mr. Supphachai turned his truck around and returned to the scene. He then saw that the Russian woman had died immediately from the impact.

Police also questioned an eyewitness who saw what happened. Mrs. Vilawan Sriboribul, age 33, said she had seen the Russian woman with her husband and daughter walking to buy fruits in front of the restaurant.

While the woman and her husband were choosing some fruit, their daughter suddenly ran on the street in front of the 18-wheel truck. When her mother turned to see her daughter on the street, she ran to push her daughter out of the truck’s path. But in doing so, the mother got hit by the truck and sacrificed her life to save her daughter.

Oh boy, shit like that really breaks one's heart. R.I.P. Mom

Her mom is a hero, her daughter will always regret walking in the street for the rest of her life that killed her mother... RIP

I sincerely hope that no one ever tell her that it was her fault that her mom got hit by a truck, because that will surely fuck her up in a major way. I hope dad keeps it at "Mom died in an accident".

Geez...

Very tragic example of Motherly love, hope the little ones ok

Very sad, yet avoidable.

Very True!

You know I have always looked at parents with disgust in shopping malls that put those leashes on their kids, but in this case it would have avoided any loss of life. Also more attentive parents would have worked too, seriously one parent should always have a firm grasp on any child under 5 especially near a street!

Just in case it hasn't caught on in Europe, this is what I am talking about...

Treat a Lady like a Whore, and a Whore like a Lady and you will never go wrong!

The mother just done a natural reflex action any parent would do.

She knew her child were in danger, yet without any thought for herself, put herself in to the same danger to save her child.

So noble a sacrifice, so tragic a loss, RIP.

I do not think I can read any derogatory postings about the Russians for a while, would not seem right.
