Two young men snatched a waistbag from a 42-year-old Swedish tourist in a wheelchair outside a Rayong market. They had asked to use her cigarette lighter, and when she opened her bag, they snatched her bag and escaped on a motorbike. The woman lost her passport, cellphone, iPad, and camera.

RAYONG – October 19, 2012 [PDN]; at 5:10 p.m., a report of two thieves stealing property from a handicapped tourist was received by Pol. Lt. Sanor Rattanapholsaen, Deputy Inspector, Rayong police station. Police rushed to inspect the scene and found the handicapped victim sitting on her wheelchair at the Star shopping center market in Amphur Muang, Rayong province.

The victim was identified as Ms. Anna Julin, age 42, from Sweden. She is disabled in both legs, and her hometown is in Finstaragen 30 86331 Sundsvall, Sweden.

Ms. Anna told police said that two teenage thieves had grabbed her waistbag and escaped on a motorbike. They were about age 20, about 170 cm tall, somewhat fat, with darkish black-red skin color.

They were riding a black Honda model CBR, black color, but she didn’t get the license number. The rider wore jean pants and yellow collared shirt, and was wearing a full helmet. They had escaped to the route 36 road, Baan Don intersection, Tambon Cherng Nern, Amphur Muang, Rayong province. The police tried to pursue them, but due to the heavy traffic jam the thieves escaped.

During further questioning, Ms. Anna told police that she had come to Thailand to escape from the cold weather in her hometown. She had rented a house in Koh Samed in Rayong province.

Ms. Anna usually travels around outside in her wheelchair. She had travelled by boat to buy food and fruits in the Star shopping center market. But today, while she was sitting on the wheelchair outside the market, two young men who had parked their motorbike nearby began talking to her in English.

They asked to use her cigarette lighter, so she opened her waistbag, which contained her camera, mobile phone, passport, iPad and many other important documents. But when the thieves saw her stuff, they snatched her waistbag and ran to their motorbike and drove away.

After receiving the theft report, Pol. Col. Sukitti Sawaikiet said the police immediately relayed the descriptions of the two thieves to other officers, detectives and the police in the area sentry boxes, to look for the suspects and capture them.

The rescue officer of Sawarngpornkusol foundation also assisted in pursuing the thieves. However, the thieves escaped into Baan Don market, which at that time had a heavy traffic jam so the thieves eluded police and made their escape.

But the police will inspect the CCTVs for all the routes the thieves may have taken. The police will investigate to pursue and arrest the thieves and punish them, because they took advantage of a handicapped tourist and also ruined the good image of Rayong for tourists. The victim had escaped from the cold weather in Sweden to stay and rest in Thailand, but instead she had been robbed by young Thai punks.

It must be hard to navigate about in Thailand for this lady as the country isn't well equipped for those with disabilities. It's an outright shame that there are people who would take advantage of that by robbing her. There is a special place in hell for them. If justice isnt served in this lifetime, here's to hoping in the next they get there tolls.

Hopefully they are stupid enough to turn the phone or iPad on so the police can track them down.

Is this lady alone or does she have friends who will now look after her when she needs help, fucking tramps to do that to a woman, but to a woman in a chair is unspeakable in my eyes

You'd be suprised. Seriously, I'm seeing more farang women over here on the Darkside. Pattaya is like a Trade marked Brand Name- the word is out and people are flocking in...

+1 for catching the perps. A lot of locals are hooked on Yaba and they will pretty much do any thing for their next fix. Be careful out there...
