Cancelling Hotel Booking on Agoda

Recommended Posts

As a first timer to Pattya I was simply amazed at the thorough wealth of information available on this forum. In a rush to book my trip in mid November, I impulsively skimmed through the best hotel rankings here and booked April Suites for 3 nights.

I did some follow up reading here and felt that ending the night at WS discos and gogos was more my speed, and interest on this first trip (to kinda get this out of my system). And a hotel smack dab in the action would be more advantageous.

Problem is, when asking Agoda to cancel, they indicated that this booking is non-refundable as indicated at the time of booking (I remember seeing this but did not foresee it as being a problem).

Understandable. And I am totally willing to eat this cost and relocate to the Jasmine hotel for extra $. But has anyone pursued a refund through Agoda or the hotel after they initially told you, no refunds? Just looking at some options that may save me $.

Thank you, and I look forward to positng updated trip reports.

my plane was delayed and I missed my 1 night prebooked stay at Sukhumvit Suites BKK. turned up the following day and the hotel called Agoda and it was switched to that night at no additional cost.

I have once obtained a refund on a "non" refundable booking with agoda because after booking I tracked reports and found there was undisclosed building work next door I was not notified about. When they offer discounted rooms they often are non refundable.

The transport opportunities to get from the "heart of the action to April Suites it is no problem compared to losing your money you have paid. a 20THB Sangthaw ride or a negotiated taxi ride, there can be a lot of interaction before you get back for the action, unless you are a wbtym but then if you have not surveyed this forum you should just trawl Soi 6. You have paid for the hotel, live and adapt spend the rebook money on taxis.

I forgot to add a lot of times using www.booking.com you do not pay till you arrive and are given a good envelope to cancel without charge before you arrive without surrendering any money out of your account.

Just stay at April Suites. It's not hard to get to to WS or home from there. It's on a quiet Soi near the corner of Central Road and 2nd Road. Just because you party at WS doesn't mean you wanna stay there.

For future bookings , try Booking.com , no problem with cancellations on that site

I've never had a problem cancelling on Agoda. This isn't really a cancellation problem, as such. Some Agoda discount deals come with a 'no cancellation' condition, which the OP acknowledges he noticed when booking. Actually, very few Agoda offers have this condition. I have had to cancel bookings on Agoda a number of times and the refund has been prompt and 'in full' each time.

As above, I have received a full refund from Agoda - funds have been returned to my account within a few days.

I would agree. Its not the 2nd most booked hotel by PA members for nothing.

The VAST majority of bookings at Agoda are refundable.

VERY occasionally they have very low deals that are not but it states clearly and they are almost always VERY low deals. You cant have your cake and eat it.

They DO have a 25 day (I think) "no cancellation" deal but again its the trade off of the discounts and in these cases you would lose one nights fee.

As has (correctly) been pointed out Booking.com do not charge in advance so if unsure they are worth a look but compared to Agoda they very limited hotels (around 200 in Pattaya compared to Agodas 600+)

Actually it seems to be a problem a with August Suites and April Suites (both run by the same owner), that the rates from these hotels are non refundable (hotel policy). Nothing wrong about that, you just have to be aware about this before you make a booking.

Anyway I had the same problem with a booking at August Suites. I had booking for 3 nights at August Suites, but my travel plans changed and I arrived one day later than expected.

I just send an email to Agoda and asked for help to shorten my stay and maybe get a refund. They sent an inquiry to the hotel and within 24 hours I got an email with a new voucher for 2 days and another email that a refund is on the way.

I don't know if it might help the TO because my booking was several month in advance for a stay in high season, so there's plenty of time to get a new guest for that night.

Anyway it can't help to ask Agoda for help.

Please keep in mind that everything I write is based on my own experiences, my personal preferences and my expectations. YMMV!

There's nothing wrong about being cheap ... but being cheap isn't being smart ... never was, never will be ... it's just cheap

I had to cancel a booking thru Agoda on last trip. I now know it was non-refundable deal, but when cancelled 3 weeks beforehand there is no way the hotel concerned incurred any loss of other bookings.

Agoda may have made small commission on that one, but have lost a lifetime of future bookings from me.
