A moron with a keyboard aims at Pattaya

Last month I was casually surfing the Net when I came upon a forum about Pattaya. Not really difficult because there are thousands of them. Unfortunately, and I really mean that, I read a ‘post’ from a person who can only be described as a moron; possibly the biggest moron on the planet. I am uncertain whether this person is actually a woman or just a male pretending to be female. Neither is the person’s nationality clear. The post hints at the author being American but the text leads me to suspect a British writer. That is all the information I will pass on because what is obvious is that he/she wants a moment of fame and he/she does not deserve that satisfaction.

The long post began with, “For the past 24 hours, I've been in Pattaya, Thailand. Pattaya is a beach town known for its sextourism industry. It's a city where people from all over the world come to have sex. That's it. Sex of all kinds, including sex with children. Obviously, being there was incredibly difficult.”

Infuriated does not even begin to describing what I felt after reading that. For starters, this idiot has been in Pattaya for 24 hours and has already become an expert. Many of my friends and I have lived here for more than a decade and not one of us would describe ourselves as an ‘expert’ on Pattaya. Such a person does not exist.

To imply that the only reason anybody comes to Pattaya is for sex is as ludicrous as it is insulting. But what really got me riled up and forced me to take the gloves off were the words, “including sex with children.” In 13 years of coming to Pattaya I have never witnessed any such activity, nor do I know anyone who has. Yes, I have read isolated press reports that paedophiles have been arrested or that the police have taken some underage girls or boys into protective custody, but I could count those incidents on two hands. That is less than one per year. It would be foolish to say that such perversions do not exist here but may I suggest that the instances are no higher than those in New York, London, Sydney or any other cosmopolitan city in the world.

It was difficult to speak to women who clearly didn't want to be prostitutes but felt it was their best financial option. It was difficult to see a man with a wedding band on playing footsies with a woman who was clearly not his wife. It was difficult to see men prancing around looking more feminine than me. It was difficult to see young children carried away for God only knows what. And it was difficult to see Americans and Australians and Brits and Thai alike buy human beings with numbers pinned on them, like cattle.”

Where do I begin? This imbecile clearly does not have a clue.

“ … some women were outright slaves, taken from their homes.” Name one! Show me one such woman and I will alert the authorities to rescue her.

“ … a man with a wedding band on playing footsies with a woman who was clearly not his wife.” Well blow me down! That doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world, does it?

“ … young children carried away for God only knows what.” Show me. Give me one verifiable example. Time, date, location, names? Anything?

“ … Americans and Australians and Brits and Thai alike buy human beings with numbers pinned on them, like cattle.” I assume the jackass is referring to Go Go Bars where the ladies wear a number for identification purposes. Thais use nicknames and many Thai girls have the same nickname. In one particular bar I knew of five girls named ‘Noi’. This halfwit’s allusion to a cattle sale or slave market is way off line.

Column space forbids me from really telling you what I think of this jerk. I have tried to ignore such people in the past but this one just really pissed me off. The main problem is that some people who read his/her post may believe it and make judgements based on that belief. The second problem is there are other uninformed and unintelligent people like this spreading lies about Pattaya.
