35 day visa to thailand

can anyone give som advice on how i can stay in thailand for 35days? i know americans get a 30day tourist visa, but i want to stay 35 days, i have been to LOS many times but only stay for 29 or 30 days, where could i get a visa for 5 extra days

Visa is 30 days, but the passport officer will often grant stay of 60 days with no problems. Just check the date by which you must leave Thailand. 60 days is not obvious, but still never happened to me that I've only got 30 days, mainly because within 30 days of residence for EU citizens are already exempt from the visa obligation.

What country are you from? If the 30 day visa exempt is not enough then apply for a 60 say visa before you go. Or come through on the usual 30 day visa exempt and do a visa run during the last week. That will get you 15 days if entering by land or another 30 days if by air.

Americans do not get a visa for any number of days. You get an exemption to not require one for 30 days. You can extend it with a fee and proof you are leaving, before it expires. Far less work than a visa run for 5 days.

 

Or get a real tourist visa with 60 days duration where you live. If there is a Thai consulate you can get a visa the same day or overnight.

 

You will not get a nice immigration officer who will give you 60 days or 35 or 34, 33, 32, or 31. They give 30. They don't even talk to you. And there are no 30 day tourist visas, they are 60 days with one, two or three entries, and cost more for more entries.

 

If all you need is 35 then extend it in Pattaya in an hour vs. spending a day going to Cambodia and spending as much and wasting time.

The safest option is to get a 60 day tourist visa before you leave home. The benefits are you don't have to worry about running around getting an extension and have no worries about boarding your flight. I think the risk is low but the airline may refuse boarding you if they notice that your return date is more that 30 days after arrival and you don't have a visa.

I think they are only valid for 3 months so best to leave it longer.

One month before you plan to come to Thailand, send paperwork, pics, $40 money order, etc ( see thai website allready posted for exact info).

 

Use Priorty Mail with tracking to send and express mail for return, don't forget to make a copy of tracking info so you know where it is at all times. Your local post office will know all the ins and outs, unless your in podunk nowhere............

My tourist visa for 60 days arrived this morning! It cost £35 including return postage.

 

To extend 30 days to 35 days in Jomtien would probably cost 1900 baht so best get the visa before you arrive.

 

You'll need to travel within 3 months of the visa stamp date.

Just stay over, I did last trip and nobody said anything. I stayed 32 days on the 30 day visa.

Yes that is an option but if the police have a reason to ask to see your passport during the overstay period you will be spending some quality time rotting in a prison cell before you are deported with a nice stamp in your passport. Then of course you also run the risk of not being able to board your flight to go to Thailand in the first place. IMO planing to overstay when you have other options is not very clever.
