A 25-year-old former soldier apparently high on drugs twice entered a military woman’s home in Sattahip. He was arrested after the first illegal entry. But he was set free the next day, and invaded her house again with a knife and destroyed her property while she was away.

SATTAHIP – October 11, 2012 [PDN]; at 1 p.m, a report of a man with a knife threatening people and entering someone’s home was received by Pol. Capt. Aekkachai Mullee, investigation officer, Sattahip police station. He rushed to inspect at scene along with Pol. Col. Chonnapat Nawalak, Superintendent, Sattahip police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Prakorb Saengpring, Deputy Superintendent; Pol. Lt. Col. Niphon Pomsanarm, Deputy Superintendent; the detective police team and inspectors, totalling almost 10 officers.

Police arrived at a single-story house in Sattahip, where the frightened homeowner was standing with a neighbor a safe distance from her house.

The homeowner was identified as Lt. Ubonrat Meun-eam, age 54, Special Activity Division, Sattahip naval base, address 72 Moo 3 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

Ms. Ubonrat said the mad man was carrying a knife to hack at people, and he had climbed the fence of her house to destroy property. It appeared that the crazed man was high on amphetamines.

The officers could not arrest the madman because the fence door was locked from inside, so the officers negotiated with him for more than an hour to calm him down, then he consented to be arrested.

After arresting him, police searched his body and found his military ID card that identified him as Mr. Arnont Wannakit, age 25, second Royal soldier division, Prajeenburi province, retired on October 31, 2011.

Police inspected Ms. Ubonrat’s house and discovered that the man had destroyed a lot of her property. Police also found 3 knives that he used to make trouble, so the police kept the knives for evidence and took the suspect to the jail in the police station.

However, the suspect did not give his consent for a urine test to detect for drugs. Police initially charged the suspect with resisting arrest and fighting against officers, and entering other person’s house to destroy property without permission.

Lt. Ubonrat revealed that this madman had disturbed her the previous evening, when he had entered her house to sleep on the sofa, so she notified the police to arrest him. But police only held him overnight, and then released him.

After the suspect was set free today, he got crazy again and returned to use a knife to run at people and try to hack them. The police of the Baan Taotarn sentry box tried to stop him, but got injured in the attempt. Then the madman climbed the fence of Lt. Ubonrat’s house to hide inside and destroyed her property. Fortunately there was no one home at the time, so no one got injured or died in this incident.
