So A Thai lady will be coming out to visit me in Australia shortly. We have looked through the guidelines check-list that tells you all the things you need to forward to the embassy.

We have almost everything ready to go but one thing it says I need to send is a "letter of invitation"

Does anyone know what this letter should contain, or if possible can pm me one of theirs so I have a sort of template?

Also, is there any thing else you think that would help the chances of getting a visa approved that they don't specifically say in their list of requirements?

Edit: I should add it is for a 3 or 6 month tourist visa.

I doubt that they will issue a 6 month visa but a 3 month should be no problem. I have written a guide on getting a TG a visa for Australia. You can find an example of an invitation letter on this page: Australian Tourist Visa Documents. You will find a list of documents that you should include on another page of the site.

They get them as they provide a reason (with supporting evidence) for returning to Thailand. A letter from an employer stating that they have a job to return to is sufficient.

I believe good reasons are a job or study to return to. That said I have had contact from people who have got visas for girls who did not had anything to return to and still been issued a visa. I guess it depends on the mood of the person looking at it.

If you read my detailed thread on this forum it would serve you well. They are also very unlikely to issuw her a 60 day visa unless she's been here before..

I wrote my own letter of invitation. PM me if you want more details

Good information in there, cheers , now all I have to do is find a girl,

  • 2 weeks later...
Posted

I've found a lady and I will be going through the motions over the next few weeks. Initially a 30 day visa we think, to start off with.

I can post up the trials and tribulations once it's underway, for any future references.

We spoke randomly to a lady at the Pattaya Markets couple of nights ago, who has BF in Sydney and she says that she organised everything herself at Thai embassy here in Pattaya and it cost her 3600 Baht and was approved and ready for collection in 3 days!

We are planning on trying this ourselves!

Will let you know how we go.......

I used Scumbags website earlier this year and worked a treat. packed the application up with about 40 pages of phone records, shitloads of photos ect and a letter from her boss that i wrote and got him to sign both our bank statements showing money is no issue and of course an invitation letter saying ill take care of her in Oz and put her back when its time to leave. pretty easy to get all the paperwork together, bamboozle with bullshit really .. good luck

Got to agree with that bigbird.

My girl now has had 3 tourist visa's approved the latest last week.

We have pretty much followed the advice on Scumbags web site just adding a few things that met our own circumstances.

Hi spebgtsprint

There is no good reason to not do the visa yourself.

Anyone who uses an agent will have to supply all the info to the agent anyway this is 95% of the visa done.

Just on your comment about about applying for a 30day visa first , they issue TV's for 3month's, 6month's or 12month multi entry, your lady could only stay for 30 days if that is what u want, but you will find that her visa is good for 3 month's from the time she arrives in Aus.

Just got our 3 month visa approved, only took about a week and was actually a lot easier than I expected. Good luck to you.

She has been my girlfriend for about 8 months but I have known her for over a year. I worked FIFO in west oz and lived half my time in Thailand, so have spent a lot of time with her. Now its her turn to come see me. Kind of shitting myself because Perth has got to be one of the most boring cities to show a young Thai girl. Will see how it goes anyway.

Thai girls quite like Australia. First priority is to find where they sell Green Papayas for Som Tum, and all the assorted jars of pickled crabs, fish, animal offal, mushrooms, chillies and spices.

Once the food is sorted, thats half the trauma covered.

Luckily enough there is a shop about 500 metres from where I live that sells all that Thai stuff. I think their sales are about to go through the roof, and I guess my food bills will also go through said roof.

What do all you guys do for insurance for your girl, Mine has been here on a 3 month and now we are working on a 6 month visa, but what if she gets sick or has to go in a ambulance, or a car crash? Got this off web site.

My friend has come to Australia from overseas. Can they join Ambulance Victoria membership?

To become an Ambulance Victoria member you must be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent or temporary resident status.

To get insurance for 6 months its like $500+

You can buy insurance for a visitor to Australia. I did so a couple of days ago as we are travelling to Australia next week. I use 1cover. I got a quote for 6 months for you and it costs $532.70. I would never consider taking a TG to Australia without buying some insurance for her. If she has an accident it could be financially ruining if they don't have insurance.
