North Pattaya Bus Terminal - Getting into town

Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise the best way to get into central Patts from the bus terminal?

Is it on a regular baht bus route or is an individual hire the way to go (cost?). I think a motorbike taxi is out as I bring a huge suitcase with me and would probably fall off!

Thanks.

There are usually several baht buses there waiting and I think that they go on different routes, but definitely go down Beach road. I can't remember how much the trip from the station to Central Pattaya, but is more than the normal 10 baht. They will carry luggage (usually in between the two benches).

yes, depends on how bulky your luggage is and whether you want to haul it accross the street. If not, just hire a waiting baht bus at the terminal (B100-500 depending on destination, mood of the day and your negotiation skills) or you cross the big road (don't be afraid) and wave one down that goes to the right when you step out of the station for B10.

Or you could arrive with Bell Bus, then you'll be taken care of anyway.

Baht bus waiting in station charge 200 Bt.

Cheers for your replies. I'm arriving too late for Bell Bus which I think is brilliant btw. Looked on the map and the station is the right side of Sukumvit which is good. Probably go the 200 baht private hire route.

They must see you coming!! The charge for a waiting baht bus from the bus station to Beach Road is 20 baht. The only hassle is there can sometimes be a wait while it fills up.

That's for your own private one to wherever (might be more).

The waiting ones are 20 Baht as Brewster said, but you may wait a long time for it to fill up and go.

I've read about the waiting buses and may give it a go. As I'm staying on Soi Bua Khao and arriving late, with a huge suitcase, I might cave in and pay the 200 baht to go direct!

Arriving late with large suitcase then I think you would be better investing 200 baht and get taken straight to your hotel, otherwise it's a regular bus to beach road and change buses to get to Soi Bukhao , lots of hassle to save a few baht and arriving stressed out!

Off the topic, But why the "huge" suitcase? You may want to pare down and save yourself some backache. I never bring more then a carry on. Makes getting around easier.

I'm staying for 60 days and bring my own towels and bedding, kettle/box of tea bags lol and other stuff just seems to fill it up! I use everything I bring so I can't really downsize. Wish I was packing it now!

Just another idea, Why not just order a taxi from the airport straight to your hotel. Only B1000 less hassle after a long flight.

Be well Dave

I'm curious why you bring your own towels and bedding.

Condo rental with no daily service, unless you want it.

The 20 baht trip includes Beach Road and back along second road in the price. Just get off at the nearest point on 2nd road to where you want to be on Soi Buakow and it isn`t far to walk then.

Sorry, meant to add onto previous post, on my last trip people were taken to their hotels near the route for only a small tip, one was for 50 baht for two on top of the fare. Discuss with driver first.

For the 200 you get the thing to yourself, it drops at the hotel (may or may not be on a direct route) and you dont wait while it fills up.

I agree if the hotel is ON Beach Road then the 20 baht option is fine. One word of warning, ASK if it goes to Beach Road as some of them turn right at Dolphin and head towards Nahklua.

Had one driver who wanted to charge 20 baht for the bag too, just gave him the 20 baht for me an walked on,he just drove on! He was a bit of a 'chancer' as he had already charged one passenger an extra charge for bringing him direct to his hotel when he just left him at the end of the road and told him it was up the street, no reason for the extra charge then? Also he didn't tell him how far it was 'up the street'!

10 baht if you take a few more steps to the main road and take the baht bus from across the road. I did that before cos was tired of waiting for the baht bus to fill up in the station.

Yes any baht bus waiting inside the station will charge 200 baht no matter how far you are going. I've argued with them a couple times but at 1:00 AM I can't be bothered

I've never tried at 1am, but a regular baht bus from inside the bus station, that has to fill up before it leaves, is only 20 baht (to Beach Road/Walking Street).
