Home-made bomb defused in South

NARATHIWAT, Oct 5 – A home-made bomb attached to a 20-kg LPG tank was defused on a road in this southern province today, police said.     

A police team was dispatched to Sako-Kalubi Road in Tambon Sako where they found a 150-metre electric wire in a forest. After digging the ground and searching area for 15 minutes, they found the home-made bomb and managed to defuse it.

Police said they believed the bomb was at attacking patrol policemen from Sako police station who normally pass the area at around 4 pm every day.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers and vendors have vented their uneasiness for having to close their shops on Friday for fear of attacks as rumoured.

Leaflets have been distributed in three southernmost provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala in the last few weeks, threatening violence on Fridays if shops are open.

The authorities urged them to carry on business as usual while security would be boosted for them. (MCOT online news)
