I know this is a wild stab in the dark but hey I might get lucky.

I would love to hire a video camera like this (see below) when in Thailand. Idealy from Pattaya but realisitically from Bangkok. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe even perhaps warnings? I dont have the capital to purchase so i am looking to rent.

Any ideas guys or perhaps warnings. I have a few ideas up my sleeve for filming, please do not assume porn! I have more imagination than that. hehe

i am taking my dvd camera out with us. why rent??

its only 30fps, not megapixel, but good standard and discreet.

I have a very good quality video camera and now a new canon camera, (which can record video) but it is just no where near the same quality as professional camera. You'll notice when doing outside shots, with all the details it is shy of quality. I am learning editing as you know and because i am going to dreamland.. why not complete my dream and do some good filming and editing etc.

am hearing ya, if i knew now what i knew when i first bought my camera i would have made very different choice based on a whole range of factors. that camera you showed will produce excellebt HD quality pics. not got any such joy from mine, but good fun.

funnily enough THAT model is the one the porno directors favour!

Im hoping to take this Sony hd cam reason im hoping it dos'nt hit till march. But it records directly onto a hard drive and its just plug into pc and post werever youtube or like sites. For 649.00 US its not bad for a HD sony camera

If I cant afford this one (budget) I will go for this one, its not HD but can still be plugged in to pc and is easy share. at only half the price of the one above. Nut I reeally want the 1st one. lol If I get one it really should be the better one.

The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it?

A death. What's that, a bonus ? I think the life cycle is all backwards.

You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work.

You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement.

You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities.

You become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating... you finish off as an orgasm.

It's perfect !

How much and what are the terms etc

Cheers

It is the XL2. How long do you want it for?

It is a busy camera so I would need to know the exact dates.

The latest series of the amazing race asia was shot using mainly Sony HD handycams and the picture quality is fantastic. Dont rule them out until you give it a whirl.

I have the Sony HC3 which uses DV tape. Brilliant results! :Banghead2:

If you rent the Canon XL2 in Thailand, how are you going to play/load the tapes when you get back home?

I've also found that peoples character change when you've got a professional 'looking' camera pointing at them. Thus something like the Sony HD cameras come into their own.

Cheers

  • 1 year later...

I own a 12 year old Sony TRV 900 3 CCD camcorder, tape based, and it started chewing tapes a few months back.

The quality was very good with this camera being a 3 CCD model.

I needed a camcorder for a special event so got a Canon HF 11 HD model, couldnt find it in Pattaya so had to go to Bangkok.

The difference in quality between the 2 is striking, the Canon produces far superior images and its so small and light as its flash memory based (32Gb internal)

You need a powerful computer to edit though in AVCHD.

You can connect directly to an HD LCD TV and enjoy full 1080P.

All in all well recommended
