Lucky escape for driver following North Pattaya truck fire

The cab of a container truck was destroyed by fire on Wednesday Afternoon, luckily causing no injuries. Khun Prasert aged 36, the truck driver pulled over to the side of the road in North Pattaya after smoke began to come from behind the dashboard of his truck. This soon developed into a fire which engulfed the cab and destroyed it. Fire Rescue Units were quickly on-scene and were able to bring the fire under control. Khun Prasert told us he was travelling from A-Udom on the outskirts of Pattaya to Sattahip District with a container full of steel rods. Investigators confirmed the fire was started by a electrical short circuit in the engine compartment.
