Take a tour of “Wat Koh Loy” in Sri Racha

The holiday is coming and today I am taking you to pay homage to Luang Phor Tan Jai and Guan Yin, shake some fortune-telling sticks, make merit, and release birds and fish at Wat Koh Loy.

Wat Koh Loy Sri Maharacha, formerly known as Wat Koh Loy, was built more than a hundred years ago. It is located on a small hill on the Koh Loy island, approximately 700 meters from Amphur Sri Racha. It occupies an area of about three rai. The island is usually crowded with both Thai and foreign tourists during holidays. There is also a harbor where you can catch a boat to Sri Chang Island.

On the ground floor of the temple is Thailand’s biggest Guan Yin statue, which is white, four meters tall, made with white jade, and hand carved by a palace artist from China. On each side of the Guan Yin statue are two-meter-tall carvings of two attendants. They are all on an octagonal dragon pavilion with 48 pillars and a sloping roof.
