Russian victim of necklace snatch in Jomtien

A 17 year old boy, suspected of snatching a gold necklace from around the neck of a Russian Tourist was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Yury Kirilov aged 31 was on a Baht Bus on his way to Jomtien Beach, travelling along the Tappraya Road when the bus slowed and a motorbike pulled up beside them and the passenger leant over and grabbed a gold necklace with cross from around the neck of Mr. Kirilov who reacted quickly and grabbed the arm of the suspected thief who fell off the bike, the driver of which was able to escape. The young suspect claimed this was the first time he had committed such a crime. The incident occurred outside of the Pattaya Provincial Court where he is likely to appear in due course to answer a charge of aggravated theft.
