Looking for a reliable taxi

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a reliable taxi service which can pick me up in central (Soi 23) Bangkok and deliver me to Pattaya

Must be reliable and turn up on time (not over 2 hours late), about the 1000 baht range, and mustn’t take me for a scenic route via BKKs underground car parks

For this reason Mr T is excluded

with contact email/web address please

Excluded? Mr T has never given me the run-around, on the contrary, on time, straight to Patts, price as agreed 1000. Every time.

I take it you read the above, they were 2 hours late after half a dozen aborted phone calls and email, when they did turn up we then had a scenic tour of the local underground car parks, forgive me but why should I trust them again?

Telling me you think they are good doesn’t go with previous experience

And it must be a stretched Mercedes limo ....

Don't think a reliable company is gonna take you from downtown Bangkok to Patts for a thousand .

I know you want a taxi but why not jus take the minibus? From Victory station minibus to Pattaya only 100 baht. Luggage? Buy 2 seats then.

I also not know of many taxis willing to go for 1000 baht.

When I used "Ann's Private Taxi Service" on my last trip, she showed up to my hotel in Pattaya at least 15 minutes early. She was a REALLY nice older lady. We had a nice chat on the drive, and she told me about her taxi business and how her son was helping her set up the website. I always throw her name and info out whenever private taxis are mentioned, as her prices are on par with Mr. T.

I can't vouch for her on picking someone up in BKK, but, given the price/route list on her website, I figure she is adept at it.

I also can't tell what her price would be from downtown Bangkok, as price list is from BKK

Hope she can help you out!

Ask your hotel reception to get you a taxi. Not all Bkk taxi drivers will want to go to Pattaya, let the bell-boy do the running around to find you one. Agree a fixed price with the driver before you go, no meter. If you want him to take the express way ask the driver how much extra it is and give him that money up front (just the toll money, not all of it!). And if he takes strange short-cuts, trust him. Bkk traffic is horrendous, the good drivers know the shortcuts.

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

Never had issues with Mr T.

Mr T cannot control what his drivers do or what scenic routes they take you on, he only subcontracts to drivers who want to use their car as private taxi. Most people have had positive experiences with his drivers. However I'm sure there is an occasional bad apple. Sorry you got that bad apple. I always use Mr Toom, different from Mr T. His drivers have always showed up early to pick me up , and never took any funny routes.

I took Mr T Taxi last night. The driver was waiting with my name on a placard, he had an esky full of beer and did 130 the whole way to Pattaya straight to my hotel door blasting Thai music the whole way. His English was excellent and he told me a heap of funny stories. Only cost 1000 but I paid him for the beer (which I would have bought at a 7-11 anyway) and tipped him for the great service.

He said I could do anything I wanted in his taxi except jerk off, which I wasn't planning on doing anyway.

Please let us know if everything worked well ...

If everything is under control you are just not driving fast enough!

I've always had good experiences from Mr. T's taxis. On the way to meet a friend in Bangkok I had to make a last minute change of drop-off to Victory Monument. The driver did this with no problem and weaved his way through the traffic to get me there on time. Didn't ask for any extra, although I did give him a good tip.

On my last trip the driver was helping me to practice Thai for the entire journey. At one point, he reached into his glove box, pulled out a dictionary and started teaching me some new vocabulary. Have to admit it was a little unnerving as he had his foot to the floor the entire journey to Pattaya, while reading this dictionary! He even slowed down going past road signs in Thai to test my reading :)

Well obviously I read your post, or I wouldn't have replied as I did, would I. As I have used them quite a few times, and from your reply it's not clear whether or not you had used them just the once, it seemed like a relevant point for me to make.

No kidding. He takes me to and from Bangkok at the Sukhumvit Sois for the same 1000 Baht price, and has the last two times provided drivers who live or lived there and have a bit of English. He took my TG from the airport to Nongkhaen after I was dropped off for 400 Baht more and it is a huge distance from the airport.

And since time is money more like never getting a driver who goes less than 130 km/h.

No you didn't as by your reply, since I excluded Mr T for the reasons given you still had to big them up, why did you have to so that?, you knew I wouldn’t be interested and I had given my reasons, as far as I am concerned I booked them from recommendations here, they let me down badly, they didn't answer the phone or email numerous times, why on earth should I trust them again?

Do you honestly suggest that when you have a bad service experience you should keep going back in the hope that it gets better or do you seek out an alternative?

What I didn’t mention was they were booked for the return journey, I decided on another car booked for me by my hotel, the original car, although cancelled, still turned up and wanted money because it was my fault he had been cancelled and he still turned up

Please let me know how it goes.

will do, will be the end of the month, I will post an update here

To be fair, your OP did not really make it clear why you would not use Mr T (I was not sure at least).

Maybe you could try and make your point a little clearer? And not ark up when you fuck up :)

I always use the the services of Mr. Dang, who is well frequented by german mongers. Very reliable, cars from pretty new to at least ok, the drivers always did a good job, no detours. 1.000 THB all inclusive from Bangkok Sukhumvit area to Pattaya and vice versa.

Please keep in mind that everything I write is based on my own experiences, my personal preferences and my expectations. YMMV!

There's nothing wrong about being cheap ... but being cheap isn't being smart ... never was, never will be ... it's just cheap

Grammar police now, fcuk me, miss an s and I'm in the wrong, the tone of the post is pretty bleeding obvious I was referring to Mr T, otherwise why are so many defending him?
