Iranian arrested following fatal road crash in South Pattaya

A 30 year old Thai woman was killed in a road accident on the Pratamnuk Road leading to the Bali Hai Port in South Pattaya on Saturday night. A further 2 passengers on the motorbike were injured and sent to Hospital. The crash involved the bike and a Mazda 2 driven by Mr. Hamed Madan Mezhad aged 32 from Iran who was detained by Police pending further enquiries. Police determined from a number of witness accounts and an account from Mr. Mezhad that he had overtaken a slow-moving motorbike and as he moved out to the right to overtake he hit the motorbike of the victim, Khun Sucharsini, head-on. It could not be determined by Police if the positioning of the victim’s motorbike at the time of the crash may have contributed to the accident or if Mr. Mezhad was solely to blame. He was taken to Pattaya Police Station and questioned further.
