China Eastern Air Experience

I will be making my first trip to Pattaya in just a few weeks. Does anyone have experience with China Eastern from JFK through Shanghai to Bangkok? Will I have to clear customs in Shanghai between connections? Both flights are with China Eastern and arrive in Bangkok at 1am.

 

Do I need a Chinese Visa?

I dont have the same experience. Normally, my own opinion, transit passengers if need not go out the airport, need not visa, just follow the signs led you to the transfer correspondence, than you will conveniently to find the departure gate of next flight. BTW, China Eastern was famous of its delay, good luck mate.

My last 2 trips I transferred through Shanghai, you can not do a straight transfer though. You have to clear customs, pick up your luggage, and then re-check in for your flight to BKK and go through Security/Immigration again. It sounds like alot but it's not a big deal. Just ensure you have your boarding passes to show Shanghai immigration, they will take you to another kiosk to verify and you are on your way to get your luggage. Hope this helps.
