Hand Grenade thrown at Car Repair Shop in Naklua.

On Monday Evening, Police Lieutenant Colonel Santi from Pattaya Police Station received an urgent call to attend the Tanawat Garage in Soi Thai-Udom, across from Soi Potisan in Naklua after the owner of the shop reported the discovery of an M67 Hand Grenade at the front of his shop. The area was evacuated as soon as Police arrived and a Bomb Disposal Unit from Sattahip were called in. They determined that the pin of the Grenade had been removed but the weapon failed to activate. It was safely removed from the scene and later destroyed in a controlled explosion at the Navy Base in Sattahip. Khun Chatchai aged 25, the owner of the Shop mentioned that on 1st October he had a dispute with a customer, Khun Beer over modification work he conducted on his BMW car. The man was charged 300,000 Baht for the work, however Khun Beer claimed he was dissatisfied with the work and wanted a refund. The refund was not forthcoming and hours later Khun Chatchai received an SMS stating that harm would come to him if he did not comply with his request for a refund. On Monday afternoon, a motorbike containing two men was spotted near the shop and it is thought they were responsible for throwing the grenade.
