For some reason the link to find out what movies are showing isn't working

Strange, 'cause I just clicked it and it worked fine.

If all else fails, paste this into your browser:

No worries. I rarely watch movies so I actually like the selection, I can hook into a few SF movies to make the trip pass more quickly. :D

Was going to ask if the've updated their fleet to individual entertainment choices yet , rather than one big screen for all .

Heard they were planning on doing it some time ago .

Reading the link answered my question .

Yeah i got that shit on my last return flight to sydney

Not a single movie on my last flight back BKK to Heathrow.

It was 747 with no seat back screens, but they could have used the big screens.

A recent thread about flying either Thai or Qantas had everyone going sour on Qantas.

If there is limited entertainment on Thai, how could you rate it.

For UK guys... I believe Thai are now varying the aircraft according to passenger numbers. If you get a Boeing 747 than bad luck... its an older aircraft with no personnal entertainment.

If pax numbers are lower they will use an Airbus 340 which is newer and does have the screens.

The aircraft type is usually stated on your booking (called "equipment") so you can check and see if you're going to need to buy a couple extra books!

Yes, Thai have stated they will upgrade their 747s, but in current economic climate I doubt they will, and also because...

Thai take delivery of their first A380 this month (A380 is the double-decker super jumbo). There's no news of what route they are going to use them on, but if its LHR-BKK I for one will be a happy bunny, its an awesome aircraft... spacious, modern and quiet. I've flown on Singapore's A380, its great.

Hope this info is useful (and yes, I am a nerdy aircraft spotter nutjob!)

EDIT....

Found that A380s will be used for Frankfurt, Tokyo and Paris but not London :( :( :(

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

On my flight in yesterday on Thai Airways i watched The 3 Stooges, and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

There were a few new release movies to choose from as well as other categories like classic films etc. I noticed the bird in front of me was watching The Bodyguard, getting some Whitney Houston nostalgia i think.

my last flight i watched the new sherlock holmes movie, the klitschko documentary, listened to a load of music and slept, imho thai onboard entertainment is 10/10 and makes the flight more enjoyable

Most if not all by now of the Thai 747's have now been upgraded for new seating in Eco and personal IFE screens.

However, Thai are now not using the 747 on the LHR-BKK route at all as far as i can see in November, December, or January this/next year which are the busiest months with the highest LF's when if they were going to switch back they would, it's all on the A340 now from what i can see looking at scheds.

The A380 will actually give you less legroom on Thai air than both the 747 and the A340 do although if you liked it on SG then it will feel the same on Thai as the pitch will be the same at 32". Eco pitch on Thai 747 and A340 (forward Eco section) is 34".

The London Bkk route now has these smaller craft, but with individual screens in the seat backs.

A huge downside is that all the window seats in economy, both sides ( A and K) have a big metal box fixed under the seat in front, providing the IFE feed, and so you cannot get your feet under the seat in front for a Kip.

Big problem for me....I like to sleep throughout the journey with the help of a Z tablet,so book a window seat as I will not be disturbed by anyone climbing over me to use the toilets, but now cannot extend my legs because of this ridiculous big metal box blocking the way. And,now cannot drop off comfortably.....had backache after last journey because I was so twisted and contorted trying to get comfortable.

So,good for those who want IFE,bad for those who want to sleep in a window seat.

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Flying out of Perth they have new Airbus (A320's from memory) and they all have entertainment built in with a great selection of music, movies, documentaries, TV shows and basic video games so i can't complain in the slightest.

In the busier airports it is just your bad luck if you get an older aircraft but bear in mind that it is Airbus slowing Thai down from updating their fleet, not Thai as Airbus are behind with their orders.

Love to fly Thai Perth to Bangkok. Movies in the backs of the seats. Plenty of pillows and free blankets and free drinks. On my last flight back. It left bangers at 8 am, so was not sure if drinks were going to be served. Asked nicely if there was going to be drinks service. She goes no but what would you like. Black label Jim beam and coke please. She says you have to return to your seat to drink your drink. But you can have as many as you like. Her words were, if you can walk I can keep serving.

Since the plane was not full. Had a full three seats to crash out on. Plus they came round offering extra fresh rolls and croissants as they were left over and would presumably be wasted?

Gotta be happy with that service!
