Has anyone been to dusitD2 baraquda and stayed in a D'Suite recently?

The hotel looks amazing, however I've seen some *recent* reviews on hotels.com that have me concerned, particularly with the state of the pool area and gym.

Is the place going downhill? Any thoughts on the Hilton?

Appreciate it!

Any thoughts on the Hilton?

The Hilton is a great hotel at very good location (near Soi 7/8, near Soi Honey and Soi LK Metro), within 5 minutes you are at Walking Street taking Songthaeo. It's on top of Central Festival Mall where you can get plenty of food.

I really like it, especially the rooms are high quality and breakfast is awesome.

But the hotel is mainly frquented by asian and russian guests (they even have russian front desk agents). No mongers, just normal tourists, families and groups. But I never had a problem with them (and they never with me).

Actually it's not gf at all. You used to pay 1.000 THB joiner fee. You can avoid it, if you come back to hotel before 11pm and return through Central Festival.

And it's pricey. Really pricey. 5.000 THB for a standard room, which is a very nice and kinda spacious room, but pricey nevertheless

Please keep in mind that everything I write is based on my own experiences, my personal preferences and my expectations. YMMV!

Yes Hilton is pricey by Pattaya's standards, that is for sure. I'm looking for the the 4-5 star experience though, so I'm prepared to pay up. It's unfortunate they aren't GF. dusitd2 is GF from my understanding. :/

But thank you for the pro tips on the Hilton's pro's and con's. They will definitely factor in to my final choice.

Cheers!

I recently stayed at the DusitD2. I felt it was a great place. I did not think the pool and gym were rundown. The staff ws very professional, the room comfortable and the bed were some of the most comfortable in Patts. And they are girl friendly.

I did a quick search on this subforum and came up with some links:

I've been staying at D2 since 2010. It's a great hotel, very professional and very discreet. I commonly come home with more than one girl.

Cheers,

Thanks for the links mate!

I stayed at the Hilton in May when the rates were a tad low. The rooms are first-class but the hotel is not girl-friendly. Stayed for 4 nights and paid every time I bought a girl back. They didn't relent inspite of me being a HHonors member but on the 4th night, they didn't see me sneak in.

The breakfasts are nice, spread out and even their lunch buffet was great - i think just 400 THB or maybe it was a promo the but at a joiner fee of 1000THB, it spoiled the fun :(

Forget health clinics and gyms. Sex is the best cure. One good night of sex and your problems are gone.

Hi

I stayed last year in D2. The service was good and very friedly. Its not the cheepest but on a good location and nice rooms.

I would be supprised if they have been able to run it down in a year.

Just wrapped up a 7 night stay at D2 and have to say I was surprised at how well equipped the basic deluxe room was. I didn't care for not having a jacuzzi in the room, but the shower was large enough for 3 or four guests. Room was extremely clean, and the staff was friendly.

Also, very GF, no fees (just leave ID card) and polite to my guests.

Extra security guards around the perimeter at night was a plus.

Not the cheapest, but a pretty good bang for the buck (room, staff hospitality, location and extremely comfortable bed)

Stayed recently at the D2 and the Marriott (on points). I preferred the Marriott, but it is more expensive than the D2. Both are very nice but I thought the Marriott room/view was better and the pool area is much better. Location is essentially the same (across Second Road from each other), but Marriott has the advantage of quick access to Second or Beach Rd.

D2 beds are comfortable, but Marriott are better.....guests love it.

By Agoda I have booked 2 weeks in a basic deluxe room in Febr., saw after booking that it was no

breakfast included. How much will they charge for the breakfast and is it ok?

Just got the answer from the hotel

- please kindly be inform you that our breakfast is baht 824.- per person per day.

you can confirm breakfast arrangement to me or directly to our receptionist desk up pon arrival.

Well I can survive that, but think I will consider it untill I have seen it.

$25 is a lot of money for a hotel breakfast on Pattaya

824 is way over the top.

When I stayed in Sea Me Spring 1 thai breakfast was 200b, international was 500b tops.

Might be over top, but it's the usual rate for a breakfast in a 5 Star hotel in Thailand. The going rate is between 706 THB (600THB++) and 883 THB (750 THB++), no matter if you stay in a Hilton, a Starwood or a Marrott hotel. At least if you have an elite member tier of their loyalty scheme, most hotel chains will give you breakfast for free.

I agree. Even though I am inclined to stay at the hotel due to the location, facilities and GF friendly rep I would be eating breakfast out.
